There are many companies that offer short term or vacation rentals. If you are staying more than a day or two - certainly a week or more, then it will be much more economical to rent an apartment.
Keep in mind that you will be in an apt and not a hotel, so you will be passing up some of the hotel amenities. You will not have breakfast included, no daily cleaning, front desk, concierge, etc.
If this fits your style of travel, great, go for it.
