We are a group of some 10 men, visiting a friend in London. We are an easygoing, relaxed bunch. Primarily interested in good cocktails and good music. Can you recommend a bar which has more or less the following features?
- Bar welcomes larger groups without letting them wait on a queue outside for years and years
- They know how to make decent martini cocktails
- They stay open late
The bar does not need to be very fancy...
Thank you very much for your help!
I will be arriving in London Heathrow, American Airlines terminal 3 and connecting to Dubai in British Airways terminal 5. I have 3 hours layover. A friend in London wants to go to the airport to see me. Where should I tell her to meet me? Will I have time to meet her?
I'm proposing to my girlfriend in Central London in February. I want to plan a scavenger hunt proposal where she has to follow clues to find me and the ring at the end. I have a list of great places in central to add to the list, but I'm conscious about the almost certain bad weather in February. Can anyone recommend places that are indoor that I could add to my scavenger hunt in Central London? This way I could make it half indoor and half outdoor. Thanks.
I will purchase a zone 1 & 2 Travelcard when I'm in London next week. However, I am wondering what would happen if I accidentally trespass into zone 3 and exiting at that station? Can I pay for the additional fare or I'll be fined straight off?
I am attending a concert at Finsbury Park in May next year on a Friday night.
I expect this concert to finish around 11pm, I am having a sudden panic of how I am going to turn back to my hotel.
I am staying Tower Hill. Can anyone recommend the best way to travel from Finsbury park to tower hill? I presume tube stations will be very busy after concerts of this nature and not sure on the last tube time.
Any ideas how much a cab would be from A to B?
Thank you in advance
Hey guys !
I'm going to spend Christmas in London for the first time in three weeks and I'm very excited. However I was wondering if anyone had ideas about how and where I could spend those few days ? I would like to visit or to do non-mainstream things aside from all the "tourist" things everyone does, I'm sure there are a lot of interesting stuffs to do in London that are not well-known. Thanks :D
My parents (USA citizens) are coming in to terminal 4 at 9:40. I know it takes a while to clear security/passport checking/ immigration, and then get bags, but how long? I need to get them and get to central London by 1pm. Feasible?
I know this my be a ridiculous request, however I am asking anyway. About 25 years ago when I was in London I visited a pub. This pub was no more than an hour or so out of London, While I was there, I remember someone telling me that the Vikings had landed in that very location and that it was over 1,000 years. I also remember that the seats (booths , for lack of a better word) we stone slabs. If you can help, please email me at firstname.lastname@example.org. My son is traveling soon and I would love for him to experience it.
I am planning to visit London at the beginning of January. Unfortunately, I will stay in London only three days. Could you point me a few places that I necessarily see it? And secondly, could you recommend me a place where I will try good fish and chips? Thank you in advance!
I'm a US citizen flying from San Francisco to Mumbai via London Heathrow. My layover is from 12 noon till 9 PM (9 hours). I booked my flight through Virgin Atlantic directly but my connecting flight from LHR to Mumbai is on a codeshare airline (Jet Airways). I've found out that I'll be able to check my bags all the way through from SFO to Mumbai.
I was also told that I can do an airside transfer from Terminal 3 to 4 at LHR using a terminal shuttle. My question is, can I leave the airport and visit London for a few hours while I'm there? I've read forums that mention (strangely enough) that Virgin Atlantic doesn't allow you to leave the airport during a layover. From what I know I don't need a tourist or transit visa to enter the UK.
If possible I would like to go to Windsor Castle and maybe have a meal around there before coming back to Terminal 4 directly. I won't be having a big carry-on bag either. Just a laptop bag. Has anyone been through this recently?
