We are on a one week food and wine sailing tour around Italy and Croatia. 9-4 at Giardini Naxos on Day 3. Want to see Taormina and Castelmola. Need fast transportation. Can we expect taxis at the harbor? Or, should we book a guide/car? Happy to explore the cities on our own, just don't want to spend all the time getting there (or waiting for buses). Any suggestions would be appreciated.
From my observation during a week at G-Naxos a couple of years ago, taxis attended each cruise ship arrival. Your plan is a good one with your limited time. You might like to look at a review on getting public transport from cruise ship drop off (not with that in mind) but to see the layout of the bay and the drop-off location. The ferry is a good way to come south but you won't see anything! For stunning scenery the train is great. more
