Very Basic Question. We will arrive by plane to México city. How do we get to Tampico by bus? What companies do the service and how much do they cost aprox? Thanks
Hi, You can hire a cab from inside the airport (they have a booth in there so you can hire it with no problem). Take the trip to the Terminal de Autobuses Norte (wich is kind of closer - unless somebody else comes with a better option). The have trips or "corridas" to Tampico, Tamaulipas. You can see the itinaries in advance at www.ticketbus.com.mx You can use ADO or Futura or any 1st class line that showes Tampico. You can either ride a Directo o De Paso (it means it comes from somewhere else but it rides your route). One example: I found ADO busline at 12.00 on Wednesday. It costs467.00 pesos (around36 USD) It takes about 10 hrs to arrive to Tampico. Have a happy trip and remember to carry pesos (cash) or exchange some at the airport.

I did that trip 8 times in 2007. I used plane and paid 150$ for both ways. Its better spending 1 day extra in Tampica than beeing caught in the traffic jam of Mexico city for many houres in a bus.
