Advices needed for my Taiwan itinerary

by marcus_gsh Online Now Jan 9, 2012 at 1:15 AM

Hi all, I will travel to lovely Taiwan from 4-Mar until 11-Mar. I will stay the first 3 nights in 台北市. For rest of 4 nights, I wish to visit 高雄 (2 nights) and 清境/阿里山 (2 nights) then back to 桃园机场 around 1pm. I will travel all by my own, not plan to signup any tour package/hire private driver. Therefore, I need advices how to arrangement my last 4 nights and the related transportation, so that i can back to 桃园机场 on time on my last day. Please help to comment. Thanks! Regards Marcus

If you know how to ride a scooter, you can always take the train to visit various cities and rent a scooter locally. That would be the easiest way to travel in Taiwan, since parking for cars is fairly difficult. Scooter rentals are usually 300NT/Day. If you know Chinese, you can always visit Taiwanese group-buy sites, you can find great deals for hotels in Qinxing and Kaoshung.

Hi, How can I arrange my last 4 nights itinerary, so that i can easily catch my flight back in Tao Yuan? Compare AliShan and CingJing, which one is worth to visit? I think 1 will stay 2 nights in KaoSiung. Do u think it's enough? Regards Marcus

Hi, It really depends what you want to do. You only have enough time for one location. Either Chingjing or Alishan, you can't do both, cuz its located fairly far apart. At Alishan, you can enjoy better views and see the sunrise. Hiking at Alishan is also very rewarding, there is GIGANTIC trees (God Wood). At night time you can also try to catch some fireflies! There are occasional Aboriginal Dances that happen around the area. At Chingjing you will experience the lifestyle of farm and see farm animals. Near Chingjing, there is also Sun-Moon Lake, which is nice to check out too. A good tourist place. There are plenty of good seafood to eat in Sun-Moon Lake area, and a place to do some insect catching if that is your interest. As for Kaoshiong, you can visit Cijin Seashore Park, and the various night markets (http://khh.travel/tw/food/NightMarket.aspx). You can check out the http://khh.travel/en/ for great locations in Kaoshiong. Hope this helps!
