WHICH IS MOIRE CONVENIENT AND PRACTICAL?

We are going for a holiday to Taipei. we see that there are cheaper flights to Kaohsiung than flying to Taipei. How far of a distance would the airport Kaohsiung to Taipei airport? Is it practical to book our flight for cheaper fare? Are the public transport effecient as we will be arriving late at night. thank you folks for any comment you can help us plan our trip. Cheers
