I wish to visit Lake TAAL can someone please advise where to get the bus from Manila to Tagatay and how long it takes..which is the best busline to use.
You can go to EDSA Rotonda (last stop of MRT line, southbound). When you get to street level, look for bus terminal of Crow Transit and take Nasugbu-bound trip. This will pass through Tagaytay. Travel time is 1.5-2 hours. Where in Tagaytay do you specifically intend to go? Going to the volcano itself is prohibited at this time due to "activities" of the volcano.

If you want to visit Taal Lake, you have to go to Talisay, Batangas, which is a small town at the shores of the lake and where boats can be rented to cross the lake to the volcano. This town is quite far from Tagaytay, and is in an altogether different direction. Have a look at this link for details backpackingphilippines.com/2... Tagaytay, which is on high land, is merely the viewdeck to see this magnificent sight. However, as the previous poster mentions, there may be restrictions now because of volcanic activity. I suggest a good alternative -- go to Mt. Pinatubo instead. There are plenty of organized tours coming from Manila -- whether day or overnight camping tours at very reasonable rates, around 50 euros per person.

just to correct my post -- in fact, there is public transport (jeepney) from tagaytay to talisay. so yes, you can still take the tagaytay route.

There's a bus at Lawton near the Post Office. The travel time would be 1 and half hour.

Visit to Tagaytay City is not prohibited. What is not allowed is going to the lake/volcano crater itself. For info, Taal volcano/lake is not in Tagaytay City but in another place. However, it can be best viewed from Tagaytay City. From the city, you can take a boat to the volcano/lake which is currently prohibited due to "activity" of the volcano. You can go to Picnic Grove, Residence Inn/Zoo, Fantasy World, People's Park, among others.
