Looking for Tacloban accommodation

by MasonB Online Now Oct 18, 2009 at 6:09 AM

My fiancee and myself are looking for a nice house or apartment which we can rent for 3-4 months in Tacloban or Palo - we need to find something by the 4th of November 2009, or in other words... ASAP! Our requirements are modest: it may be furnished or unfurnished, but it should be clean, have water and electricity, be secure and reasonably close to Tacloban or Palo. Can anybody here help?

Finding an apartment in Tacloban won't be much of a fuss as it is a city. If you're fiancee is from Leyte, I suggest that you ask a close kin of hers to look for one. You may also check http://www.sulit.com.ph As for Palo, I am not sure but since there is a BPO company in the area (so I heard), I don't think you'll have a hard time finding a place to stay there too.

To be honest, we've had heaps of trouble finding anything that would suit us - "City" is a misnomer; because Tacloban only has 225,000 people and the only accommodation we've been able to find is either substandard or too expensive or too far from town or simply not secure enough. We have tried asking all her friends, but they have not been very helpful naman :-( We've also tried sulit & ayosdito com, but there's so little there.

Regardless of Tacloban's population, it is still considered a city based on the income it generates. Still, I hear you. You may want to check olx.com too. I found this one on said site - "House for rent in Palo, Leyte - big house, 2 floors. 2 bathrooms, 3 bedrooms. Pls contact Mel 09212349226" Not sure if it is still vacant as ad was posted way back September OR browse through the VT members link, look for VTers from Tacloban and send them a private email. Hope you get to find a place to stay soon..November 4 is just around the corner!
