Sometime in 2011 I will making a trip from the USA to Manila to Tacloban Airport and then to Sawang, Carigara, Leyte 1) I assume I have to fly to Manila to get to Tacloban Airport ? 2) Looking for nice hotel with restaurant or local walking restaurants from the hotel in Tacloban City.. 3) Also what are the option to get from Tacloban to Sawang, Carigara, Leyte
Yes, you fly to manila then Tacloban then a bus to Carigera Nice hotel in Tacloban is Alejandro's, beautiful old house converted to hotel and can walk to resteraunts and so on. good cafe/ resteraunt. http://alejandro.tacloban.biz/ Take her to Kyles bar for a quiet and releatively romantic place for a drink before dinner ( use tricycle to get there) Enjoy - take chocolates for her and family

If you use Cebu as your path to Carigara you have a longer journey If you get to Cebu airport you then take taxi anout 30 minutes to the ferry terminal. There are regular ferries to Ormoc , I have used the fast boat a few times and its about 2 hours. But then your in Ormoc , not Tacloban and to get to Carigara by bus its much easier and quicker from Tacloban than Ormoc. Hence I would not recomend the Cebu option. Get to Manila the lowest cost airfare you can find. Fly to tacloban and then triciycle to Tacloban city then bus to Carigara. Its really the only option that makes sense
