I heard snow fall here is great in Winter due to the Lake Effect. Any chance there will be lots of snow in Mid December before Christmas here? (Due to or not due to Lake effect?) How cold would cold be in December? Thanks in advance..
I assume you mean Syracuse, New York. It does get pretty cold there in winter and snow if very possible before the end of December. Of course it varies from year to year. I'd say the average temperature during the day in December could be from the 40's (F.) down to the 20's. June

Places like Syracuse are well prepared for the bad winters. The roads are usually plowed quickly and people live their lives. Just make sure you have lots of warm clothing along.. gloves, hat and the right sort of shoes. The snow is actually very pretty!

It gets anywhere from the 50's to negative 30 with the windchill. It's cold but bearable and the snow can get bad but theres plows and on the day when there is no plows people live, we learn to get by for a day or two and def. stock up.

As Syracuse native Kimberli indicated, Decembers are really variable even from week to week. I lived a few miles east of Syracuse for several years and coming from further south I was amazed at how well snow was dealt with, even large volumes.

Around the campus area, it is pretty well cleared even when it snows heavily.
