Hi: We have bought a supersaver train ticket from Géneve (04:56 a.m.) to Zurich (07:56 a.m) for next Saturday. We have to change the train at Renens VD, it arrives at 05:34 a.m (IR2511) at platform 3 in Renens and leaves from platform 1 at 05:44 a.m. (ICN1511) so only 10 minutes to change. As there will not be many people to ask for, please does anybody know this conection and can tell us if it is easy to reach/find the platform, is near? Is there any way to difference INC frm IR trains, for example by colour? It is very important for us not to lose this train because with the supersaver ticket we can only take that specific train. Thank you.
There is absolutely no need to worry. You know what platform the train is leaving from, and at what time. So just get of the train in Renens, follow the signs to platform 3. 10 minutes is ample time to change trains. There is not a single train station in Switzerland where changing trains would require more than 10 minutes. Tight connections are the rule. Platforms have a display that shows what the next train is. Theses displays show train category and destinations, but in Switzerland not train numbers. However, if they show "ICN" and "5:44" you have the right train. If you want to know what the ICN train looks like, have a look here: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SBB-CF... Don't worry if your train would run late. It doesn't happen often, and when it does an you miss a connection you are entitled to take another train.

As KVB says - no worries ! If you would like to see a plan of the two platforms so that you can visualise it then here it is on very efficient Swiss Rail : sbb.ch/content/dam/infrastru... You will need to use the stairs and subway from Platform 3 to Platform 1. It will all be signed clearly. It's not a big interchange station.

Yes - Swiss trains always understand their passengers in my experience. Glad it went smoothly.
