Hello! Can you tell me if the Swiss pass is valid on trains and regional buses only or if it is valid on cities trams and buses as well. In other words, do I have to pay for transportation in Switzerland if I buy the Swiss pass?
It is my understanding it covers all trains, boats, buses, city trams, 400 Swiss museums, along with a 50% discount on most high mountain rides.

Why don't you go direct to the "horse's mouth", i.e. www.swiss-pass.ch/Swiss-Pass ? This indicates that it covers the "Swiss transport system", which is further defined in pdf document or here swisstravelsystem.com/en/dis... - from which I deduce that city buses and trams are not directly included in that definition, but as a "complimentary extra", the Swiss Pass nevertheless includes travel on these in 48 Swiss cities.

Swiss Pass includes local transport, but it is a waste of money to use it for local transport only. So if your plans require only local transportation on some days and longer distance transportation on others it is better to get a flexi pass, and just buy local tram or bus tickets. The flexi pass gives you 50% off on the days you don't use it for free travel. For most usage scenarios the Swiss Half Fare card is probably the best deal...
