We will be in Stresa this summer, and am trying to plan a three day excursion to Chamonix. What is the most direct bus or train service to this area? I have gone online with Trenitalia, but cannot access any timetables. Thanx!
I have also read that chamonix is two hours by bus from Milan, and an hour and half from Stresa to Milan. It seems thats this approach is a possibility. Are the bus schedules frequent enough to make connections in this cirumstance? Thanks.

On possibility is to go via Switzerland. The website of the swiss railways (www.sbb.ch) nows about neighbouring countries, www.sbb.ch, and shows a travel time of just under 5 hours, departures in Stresa every two hours. Change at Brig and Martigny. This mgith not be the fastest, but it is a very interesting and scenic trip.

Thank you so much! Music to my ears! If only travel companies would incorprate this when they plan Switzerland tours, people would really have the ultimate Alpine Experience. Seeing Mt.Blanc/Aquille Du Midi, AND the Berner Oberland.
