Hi there I've put together a plan to propose to my girlfriend but am stuck on one point - the location! The proposal involves using rope light (i.e. a long strand of plastic rope with lights running through it) to spell out the big question. The idea being place said girlfriend in front of said display when dark and get down on my knee! To set it up I need a reasonably steep hillside or bank that I can connect the rope to the earth using something like small tent pegs. I envisage each letter will be about a metre in height and I also need a reasonably close power source to plug the rope light into (got 100M extension lead). My plan was to rent a little cottage somewhere in Victoria for the weekend that was nestled away on a few secluded acres of land, set it up on a Saturday afternoon while I have herself kept busy in a spa or such like, bring her back in the evening, do the proposing and then head out for dinner, dismantle the setup Sunday morning and away we go. I have trawled a variety of websites looking for such a property and reviewed 100s of properties but no luck so far. I got down to two that I thought would work and contacted them. One was quite open to the idea but said they have a few cattle on the property and thought they might disturb the setup. I want it to be something that just the two of us can see and not looking to make it into a spectacle with lots of onlookers so any hotel or B&B type option does not really appear to me. It's obviously fairly difficult to tell if a property has a suitable location by looking at the few pics they upload. The location needs to be able to give us enough of an aspect from the standing location the writing is legible so thinking hillside or even a bank that slants to the side of a lake or river. The power source is another real stickler with this whole plan. Happy to travel to anywhere within a couple of hours of Melbourne. So I throw myself at your mercy for suggestions/ideas for location! Many Thanks :)
