Hi everyone,
After visiting Himachal Pradesh we are looking to head east over to Darjeeling and then down to Kolkata. Heading through Uttar Pradesh and Bihar we are looking for any advice on places to see and do along the way. Some of the places we already have in mind are Lucknow and Varanasi. If you have any ideas on must-sees or good places to go along the way that would be great.
Also, any advice on how best to travel or tips would be appreciate too.
Thanks
Ant and Steph

Khajuraho with the old temples which is a UNESCO world heritage site is worth a visit . From there there is a direct train to Varanasi but you will have to do some research on how to get there from Lucknow

If you are visitng Lucknow and Varanasi, try to include the Maha Khumb Mela (ends on 10/03/2013) at the confludence of the three rivers near Allahabad. Then go on to Bodh Gaya, the birth place of Buddha. Earlier in yoiur itinerary, you could include McLeod Ganj/Dharamshala. Delhi, obviously falls on the way.
Trains are better for these journeys.
When you are in Darjeeling, don't forget Mirik (on your way up; at least for a cup of tea), Gangtok and Kalimpong.
