Hi, We are planning to visit Tasmania in March arriving on a Friday Morning and collecting our campervan and departing Tuesday evening, therefore giving us about 4-5 days of sightseeing. We want to ensure we do the main 'touristy' things and wondered if anyone had any advice of an itinery we could use. My husband doesn't mind having to do a lot of late evening driving so we plan to sight see by daylight and get any needed distance covered on an evening. Anyone thats done a campervan tour similar to this and can help please do. Thanks!
We toured 7 nights in Tasmania in January 2006. Our route was as follows
Hobart Airport - Port Arthur (1 night) - Freycinet (2 nights in Coles Bay, great reasonably priced dinners at Madge Malloys restaurant) - Bay of Fires - Launceston (1 night) - Cradle Mountain - Strahan (1 night) - Lake St Clair - Hobart (2 nights, visiting Harz National Park).
We loved it, made lots of stops on our way and walked in the national parks. Freycinett was our great favourite. The towns are not very interesting so I recommend the national parks. We drove and stayed at motels.
