I had been to Sikkim with my full family of 11 members. Visited many places and ended up shopping at MG Road. We captured many moments in various cameras and left one at the video game parlour at the entrance of MG Road on 10th Oct evening. The entrance of MG Road was with Axis bank & HDFC ATMs and the game parlour was on the opposite side of the HDFC ATM nearer to the Taxi stand.
If anybody can help me... pls contact @9971121884

Hi, We are a group of 4 adults and 2 children (aged 10 and 11) and want to do a short camp and trek in October with kids around west Sikkim - where trek not lasting more than 4 hrs per day and total 5 days of trekking. Kids will be on mules.
Is it advisable to do the Singalila trek with children or is there a shorter trek advisable (even a small part of this Singalila trail)?
Do provide the entire trail which you recommend. Please respond asap.
I, with my family ( 8 adult member, 1 child) am planning for west sikkim during 29th oct. to 3rd nov. My plan is as follows:
Day 1. 29th morning reaching silliguri by DARJEELING MAIL. Reaching OKHREY by afternoon. Nightstay at OKHREY.
Day 2: 30th morning travelling towards HILLEY. From HILLEY 4km trek to VERSEY. Night Stay at Guras Kunj.
Day 3: 31st morning returning back from VERSEY. Proceed towards PELLING via OKHREY.
Day 4: 1st nov, morning proceed towards KALUK. Nightstay at KALUK.
Day 5: 2nd nov. After lunch returning back for New Jalpaigury to catch Darjeeling Mail at 20:00.
In this trip I have few things to clarify:
1. During Oct end or Nov first, whether it is worthy to go to VERSEY. ( as rhododendron flower is not expected during this time) ?
2. Which one will be better: 1. KALUK, 2. RINCHENPONG, 3. UTTAREY ?
3. How much time is required to reach PELLING from HILLEY?
4. What are the Hotel rates at all these places? Please give me the hotel name, rates and booking procedure ?
5. If I book a TATA Sumo or some other car for this entire trip, what will be its rate?
Pls suggest me quickly as I am looking for booking at those places
We are planning to visit Sikkim in November to do a Goecha la trek. We are in touch with a local company Sikkim Travel Express and see seem to be experienced and has the good knowledge about the trekking in the area.
Does any one have personal experience with them?
I plan on spending 4 weeks in Sikkim next May and i would like to visit two or three places where i can do some day treks before deciding if i am able to join a longer, organised trek. Unfortunately i broke my leg some time ago, and that is why i like to do some day treks, make sure the leg holds up. Also i would appreciate recommendations on suitable budget accommodation. And how much would i expect to pay for the longer trek, still possible50 a day? Any recommendations of trekking agency?
Hi...I have 3 nights & 4 days to tour sikkim in mid june. Can anyone please tell me what should be the "must sees" in such a short time? And what should be the charges for shared cars to visit those places?
Anybody knows the contact details for accommodation at Thangu???
I am a single traveller visiting Northern India end of April, beginning of May 2011. I am looking to join a trek in Sikkim from about the 6th May for approx. 16 days. Does anyone know of any pre-arranged treks that I could join. My preference would be to trek to Gocha La but am open to alternatives.
i am travelling to gangtok . i heard tht woolen jackets and other woolen things are very cheap there . is tht true? wht will be the price approx? where to buy? can u giv me idea?
I would like to visit Sikkim. I would spend seven nights a week. What is the recommended route to visit Sikkim in eight days, taking into account that the start and end of the trip is Darjeeling? I'm not interested in trekking. I'd like to visit some Buddhist monastery, landscape, small villages.
One of my questions is whether to establish the city of Gangtonk as a base from where I would visit Pelling, Yuksom, etc in a day tours each; or visit Pelling, then Yukson, then Gangtok, etc. Following an itinerary
What is the state of the roads in October? Is it rainy season?. Is it cold? What kind of clothes I wear during the first half of October?
Suggestions are welcome.
Thank you in advance

I am wondering if it is a good idea to visit Sikkim end of May (last week to be specific).
I heard that it starts raining in there end of May.
Can anyone help me with this whether I should go for it or postpone till Oct/Nov?
This is my first post in this forum. Wishing you all a very happy 2010.
I am planning to visit sikkim in the middle of Feb, around 15th or 16th with my wife. Don't plan to stay there for more than 4 or max 5 days. I have an aunt living in Jalpaiguri, that will be my base :)
I would like to know if a trip to North Sikkim is possible within this time frame. Also, is it advisable to plan for north sikkim at this time of the year. Are there possibilities of the roads being blocked by snow, will the weather be too harsh? Alternatively, if I stay for 3 days in Gangtok, will I be be able to cover the sight-seeings including Nathula? Also, how about the helicopter services in Gangtok?
I am asking a lot of questions I guess :) I will be glad if a few of them are answered :)
I'm travelling to Sikkim March 2010 to May 2010. I want to do as much trekking as posible and get as far off the beaten track as posible.
Can anyone recomend an itinery or particular treking routes or destinations please? And any info regarding restricted area and treking permits. Will I need to return to Gangtok every 15 days to renew my permit?
How close can I get to the Bhutan border? How close can I get to China?
We are planning an 8 day trip to Sikkim in end-Jan and itinerary includes Gangtok, Lachen and Lachung. I would like to also squeeze-in 1 day's stay in West Sikkim and have a few questions on the same:
1. Is it worthwhile visiting West Sikkim at all, given that we would anyways be visiting North Sikkim? So if we skip West Sikkim would we miss seeing anything in terms of scenic beauty, Kanchenjunga views or anything else which we may not see in North Sikkim?
2. If we do visit West Sikkim, could anyone advise about whether to stay at Hotel Bliss, Biksthang or Hotel Mt Pandim at Pemayangtse? We would prefer a location which has better scenic beauty
3. How long would it take to travel from Peling/WestSikkim to Lachen? Can we do some sight-seeing on the way?
4. How cold will it be in North Sikkim in end-Jan and whether we would be able to walk around in Yumthang valley or would it be too inaccessible/cold?
5. Suggestions on any traditional/boutique-style hotel in Lachung in a location with scenic beauty around
Is Gangtok really worth it?
I am mostly interested in nature and scenery, and since I am not an Indian citizen, cannot travel to Tsoka Lake and the pass. I am traveling from Darjeelnig to Sikkim for 4 days in early January, so I was thinking about visitng Pelling and Yuksom and possibly trekking for a day or two around there.
Can folks who have trekked in West Sikkim please provide more details for short treks, as details are very limited in guidebooks and online, specifically related to the following treks:
1. Yuksom - Tsokha - Dzongri and onwards
2. Maenam Hill
3. Tendong Hill
4. Monastary loop/Tashiding
5. Singalila range
It would be very helpful to all if people who have done these treks provide information about them in this thread, so that this info is available to all in the same place. Please post your experiences below.
I plan to visit W Sikkim in early January for only 4 nights, and was hoping to do a couple one day treks or a 2-3 day trek.
-Is it worth it to trek only from Yukson - Tsoka and back in two days? What about Yukson - Dzongri and back in 3 days?
-Is there any way to avoid going to Gangtok to get a permit if you want to do a Yuksom trek?
-How do Maenam Hill and Tendong Hill compare to the Yuksom - Tsokha or Yuksom - Tsokha-Dzongri treks?
-There is plenty of discussion about the treks with the best mountain veiws, but what about other nature? How do the treks #1-5 above compare in regards to local scenery and wildlife?
-For people who are interested in real trekking, is there any point in doing the Monastary loop trail, or is this just a casual walk? How is the scenery here compared to other nearby treks?
