State of Sabah

I'm currently in Kota Kinabalu, I came here for some island/beach action. Its raining and forecast to carry on for a while didnt check. I'm approaching the end of my trip and I just want to lounge around on beaches and party in the evenings. I've stayed in mostly Thailand and never touched the north like Cambodia.
I have to fly back on the 23rd of May at the latest, I have no flight booked, I ideally want to fly back to London from Bangkok or Singapore.
Where are the awesome beaches and good night life?
What you guys reckon ?

I am travelling to Penang on a business trip the first two weeks in Jan and unfortunately I only have one weekend free. Although I would love to explore Borneo, given the time I would like to atleast see Sepilok and Labuk Sanctuary. Is this too aggressive, flying in from Penang on Friday, and leaving on Sunday?

Hello, my family is going to Malaysia in January. We are family of 7. 1. I'd like to know if there is a direct bus or van from KK airport to Ranau(Mount kinabalu heritage resort). I know that there are some buses from KK, but not sure about the ones from KK airport. 2. Anybody knows where exactly sabah tea garden is in Ranau? We're going to move from Mount kinabalu heritage resort to sabah tea garden. Both are in Ranau. How can I go from the resort to the garden? Are there any local buses? We don't want to take a taxi. Hi all, I'm just found out that the hotel we're staying in in KK does not enforce the NYE dinner as I first thought. Do you have any suggestions as to what we should do? It will be me and my dad (62 and 32) and we won't want to go and get"£^ but will want to drink and have fun, perhaps dinner. Should we just stay at the hotel (Magellan Sutera) who are hosting dinners, or go somewhere else? Thoughts? Suggestions? Thanks! Natalie

Hi, friends.. I am going to KK for 3D/3N only in this Sept 29 - Oct 2, 2012. Would need help on the most suitable itineary for such short time (in details if possible). Kindly point out the main attraction / spot and the 'must do' or 'must try - food' in KK. I supposed to be traveling with a friend but ended up going alone; it is safe for female to travel alone in KK, right? Also, any recommendation on where to stay? Affordable place but nice and easily accessible? I would really love to be able to stroll around on foot if possible. Thank you very much & cheers..! ERY

Hi, anyone know if it's more worth it to book tour package on net behorehand or more suitable to buy package in the centre while we're at KK? Besides, what's the taxi rate from kkia to jesselton point? If I book room at gayana eco resort, where should I head to when I reach jesselton point? Thank you!

Hello, i have heard that you need to pre-book entrance to turtle island. I know where to do it, but i cannot find how to get to the actual island?

I will be traveling through Malaysia, Borneo, Cambodia & Sri Lanka this summer. I know that US dollars are an accepted currency in Cambodia but would it be of benefit to bring Dollars to Sri Lanka & Malaysia or is the local currency only used? Advice welcome.

Hi We plan to be in Mount Kota Kinabalu end June, and would like to know if there are any safari tours on 4 wheel drive to see wild animals. (Anyone know when is the best time to see elephants?) P.S. Not interested in safari high speed boat tours, as we have previously been in Sabah. Suggestions are most welcome Cheers

Hi, I'm a student visiting KK, Sabha, for a week this month. I want to know how much one needs for food per day. I would prefer the cheapest option, but definitely of reasonable quality? Fast food joints and roadside shops are my favorites. But, I've never been to this part of the world. So, I could use some advice. Would 5-10 dollars be enough for a day for food alone?

I am travelling from England to Malaysia, where is the best place to change up my currency into Ringgit? Does anybpdy know somewhere where they don't charge any extra commision to exchange the money and they only give you the money you put in to change up?

We will be staying in KK for several days in June/July & have given up on the overnight climb up Mount Kinabalu as it seems to need to be booked months in advance as well as sounding very pricey. Would walks in and around the Park as day trips from KK be feasible? Either busing it or possibly renting a car? Or would we be better off, does anyone think, staying over night for a night or two nearer the Park for walking & trekking? Advice welcome. J

Hi all, I'm due to fly in few days to KK, I was wandering if could I have the chance to get into a tour operator agency and have the possibility to join a climbing group going to Mt Kinabalu no more than 2 days after. Anyone experienced this sort of booking? I had a look at Sutera website but seems obviously fully booked and I didn't plan to be in Borneo so early.. Roberto

hey there! i was wondering if you can advise on transport options to kinabalu park hq if we arrive at the airport in the evening. we are hoping for public transport as we need to keep cost down. any advise will be greatly appreciated!

We are trying to make the booking for 2d/1n but it is fully booked. Is there a one day trip package to the summit of mt Kinabalu? Which means we hike up to the summit and come down on the same day. Pls advise and have a great day everyone !!!!

Buses from Tawau to KK cost about RM70plus but they leave only in the evening and takes 8 hrs. Any idea how much it would cost for a private taxi/bus/car for 3 people? Would it be faster also? I emailed some travel operators but no response from them. Any contacts?

This year I am planning a trip to Borneo with my family. We will travel for 3 weeks - 2 weeks backpacking and last week we plan to relax on the beaches near KK and eventually visit some places good for the kids (my girl is 8). For sure we will not just sunbath, but we want to take a rent-a-car and drive around to explore this part of Sabah. I would appreciate some advises where to go, what to see. any recommendation for reasonably priced beach hotel? thanks jure
