Hey guys,
I will be in India next week and I plan to be in Jodhpur to spend the Holi Festival there. Someone told me that Jodhpur's Holi Festival celebrations are really great and authentic! But I'd like to hear some recommendations from locals and also travellers who had the opportunity to spend the Holi Festival in Jodhpur in the past.
So, can someone please tell me where is the best place to go to in Jodhpur on the day of the Holi? Are there any organised events on the day? And considering we are non-Indians do you think safety is an issue? Finally, is Holi in Jodhpur celebrated only on the 27th March? or else there'll be celebrations also on the 26thMarch and maybe the day after, like it's done in Jaipur?
Thanks for any help.

Kev

Hi all !
I need to travel between Jodhpur to Jaisalmer next month (on a Friday) but I want an alternative means of transport to trains. The reason being, basically, that we will arrive in Jodhpur Airport at 2 pm in the afternoon and the next available train from Jodhpur to Jaisalmer is only at 11.45pm, which is almost 10 hours later!!! And thus, it means that with train transport we only arrive in Jaisalmer the following day at around 6am!! So we would like to know of an alternative means of transport so that we travel to and actually arrive in Jaisalmer much earlier than the train option.
So can somebody please tell me, what are the best options that I have? Are there any good bus/coach or taxi services which frequently travel from Jodhpur to Jaiselmar? If yes I appreciate, if you can indicate the travel times (maybe you can provide a link) the duration of travel needed between these two cities, the price for this trip and from which area in Jodhpur we must go to, to take this means of transport? And finally, is there a possibility to take any of these services, from Jodhpur airport straight to Jaiselmar City?
Thanks a lot and I look forward for your replies, and looking also forward for my first time experience to visit incredible India!

Hi, I'm have planned a trip starting at Jaipur(Coming from Delhi) and ending at Udaipur (going back from Ahmadabad) for around 8 days from 3rd to 11th march. We are 3 friends(all guys) intending to cover jaipur.jodhpur, jaisalmer and udaipur in the complete trip. My biggest concern is whether it is safe to travel at this point of time as Rajasthan is highly affected by Swine flu. And if Yes, which route is best to cover all these places and mode of transportation and accommodation. We can also think of making it a bike trip if we can have someone experienced with us and can get bikes(preferably Royal Enfield) for rent.
Thanks Satbir
Hey - After a bit of advice really. We're off to India in September and first place to explore is Rajasthan (coming over from Delhi). We've got a rudimentary route so would like to know; a) best way of travel b) any places we should visit in, or around the area’s we plan on stopping c) any places to avoid d) any other advice Our stops are; Ranthambhore National Park Pushkar Udaipur (and Ranakpur) Jodhpur Jaisalmer We’ve given ourselves about a month in Rajasthan. After this, we’d like to go north towards the Himalayas and then work our way east, so any tips, best way to get there etc.. would be great appreciated! Thanks, Steph & Ant
Hi, We are 4 friends on their mid-thirties who are planning to do the Golden triangle (Delhi, Agra and Jaipur). We are looking for a very good company organising this tour, including the transport among the cities so that to show us the nice spots on the way. We are not looking for a private tour, but to be with other people in the group (preferably people of our age, or at least not families). We heard Trinetra is good but they don't reply to our e-mails. Is there any company you could recommend us? Many thanks for the advice.
Does anyone know how I go about arranging a train from Delhi to Jaipur. Is this something I can do in advance or only once I am arrived in Delhi?
Dear All, Together with a friend of mine, during the last week of March 2013, I will be travelling throughout different places in the beautiful region of Rajhastan. We plan to visit Jaipur and Udaipur for sure, and maybe we will also visit Bundi, Bikaner and/or Jodhpur. And we are really looking forward to attend the Holi Festival in one of these places, as we know this Festival is organised during the time we will be in the region. At this stage, I will be really grateful if someone can help me out with the following two questions: (1) Which is maybe the best city/place (from the ones I just mentioned above), to be in during the day/s when the Holi Festival is organised? By best I mean the most cheerful and colourful atmosphere, and best from a cultural and festive aspect. And finally; (2) When is the exact date or dates when this year's (2013) Holi Festival in India, will be held? If there is more than just one day when the Holi Festival will be held, please let me know also which is the best day to attend then. In brief, my questions are 'Where and When?!' :) Thanks a lot guys, any help will be greatly appreciated!!! We're looking so forward to attend your beautiful land. :) Have a nice day everybody and all the best!!! Peace.... Regards, Kevin Malta Europe
I will love to know about trains and buses from Agra to Jaipur. Are trains better from Agra to Jaipur more specifically or buses? What's the time difference? What are the timings? How much is the cost of a ticket for Jaipur from Agra, both train and bus costs separately. Is there any good cheap accommodation in Jaipur? What all can be done in Jaipur? Are there some places in Rajasthan, which are doable within a few hours from Jaipur, and yet be worth visiting?

Hi I am considering doing a day trip from udaipur. Does anybody have some suggestion where i could go? Thx!
I'll shall be in Jaipur late Novemeber and would like to arrange a suprise to celebrate her 40th birthday either during the daytime and in the evening. Anybody got unusual trips, transport , excursions or strange places to eat that may not be listed in the guide books. Other suggestions would be welcome. Thanks
Hi I am planning a 10 day trip in India and tentatively have in mind the following itinerary: 2 nights in Delhi 1 night in Agra 3 nights in Jaipur 3 nights in Udaipur Is this a sensible itinerary? The potential driver whom I was going to engage recommended driving all the way (instead of taking the train). We however felt that we wanted to experience the trains too but were worried that it may be difficult to find a reliable driver when we arrive each new city. What will you all suggest? We will also need to go back Delhi on our last day to catch our flight. Is it realistic to take a train back from Udaipur or is the distance to far to train? I wonder too if anyone could advise me if the train tickets should be booked before we arrive India, or will it be too late to do the booking only when we arrive!? Thank you in advance! :)
Hi we're planning on a 5 day visit to Jaipur in late December 2012, and while booking the hotels/resorts we got excited by the pools as we are pool enthusiasts! We booked the Le Meridian which seems fantastic and has a beautiful pool also. Then it clicked into me to check the tempratures during the winter months for Jaipur and apparently it's max is about 25C and lows are 8c average. Now that seems a bit cool for pools especially if they are not heated pools, or am I wrong and the pools in Jaipur in the winter months are still comfy? Choosing the hotel with a beautiful pool was a big part of our selection, now if the pool is not comfy do you think 5 nights in Jaipur with 2 kids (11 & 14) would be too much? If the pool is not available are there other activities and leisure items to take in? we don't like rushing in sight seeing excursions, therefore we were planning the 5 nights to take in the culture and hum of the city. We originally thought lounging at the pool in the afternoons and taking in the attractions in the evenings day by day would be ideal but if the pools are not available or comfy is their an alternative relaxing activity ? So my questions are: Is the pool comfy in late December? If Yes- then that's it 5 nights are rocking !! If No- then are 5 nights too much for the relaxed stay, especially with little ones with allot of energy to burn.
Hi all, I will be in Jaipur for 3 or 4 nights is this too long here or would I be better spending my time travelling somewhere else. can you please give me advice on places and how to get there and back and time to travel between locations Many thanks Sean.
Hi, My girlfriend and I will travel to Delhi next September and we are planning on renting a bike to see Rajasthan. Can anyone help us by recomending a rental place or some route. We expect to travel 10-12 days throughout the Rajasthan and wish to include Shimla, this one done by train. The thing is, We are not sure that the bike is the perfect mean of transportation, we considered taking the train but then we have to reserved in advance the trip and should have the itinerary all sorted out - wich will be dificult for both of us. We would like to hear your opinion. The rental bike sites I have encounterd ask for something like 600 euros for the 10-12 days. Thanks in advance
Hi there A couple of questions When is the best time to visit the National Park to do safari tour to see wildlife animals like tigers, lions, and deers? Is June/July good time to go? Which are good tours which would take you to Ranthambhore National Park? I am looking for a 2 day tour so any suggestions are welcome, thanks.
does anyone know how long does it roughly take to get the 'entry' visa for india take? im from ireland? cheers
Im about to travel to Jaipur in June for 6months (on my own) for an internship. the trip advice websites are now saying that parts of India should be avoided as there's high risk of attack espically by the Pakistani border. is Jaipur really safe to go as i want to see all the tourist attractions while i'm there and that's what there saying travelers should avoid or be very cautious of? starting to have severe reservations whether or not i want to still go...can anyone give me advice as to how safe it is? should i ignore the advice? cheers, ker
I'm staying in Jaipur for several days and plan to spend one of them getting to Abhaneri and its step well. Has anyone done this who's prepared to offer me advise about getting there? A taxi would be easy but might lack the (hint of) adventure aspect I so crave! Many thanks, Chris
Day 1 -- arrive at Sanganer airport, proceed directly from airport to town of Sanganer to see blue pottery, block printing and handmade paper.( we are just taking a domestic flight and won't be tired) have lunch in Sanganer(any good suggestions for places to have vegetarian lunch there?) Then reach hotel in Jaipur and then rest and take a stroll around in the evening.( thought of going directly to Sanganer from airport since it is closer from there) Day 2 -- visit jai mahal palace, city palace, janatar mantar after breakfast, then visit Hawa mahal after lunch, take a walking tour in the city in the evening. Day 3 -- go shopping in the morning and then proceed to Amber fort and palace. Have lunch there( any suggestions for lunch at Amber?), then stay for the sound and light show at amber. Would it be very tiring to hang around amber for almost 3 to 4 hours? Day 4 -- proceed to next destination Please let me know if this is a good plan? Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks, Seetha
Am looking for a centrally located homestay that serves vegetarian food only. Are there any organic homestays in Jaipur conveniently located? Any suggestions regarding home stays would be appreciated. Thank you,
