Hi there, I can only choose either Ranakpur & Kumbhalgarh Fort or Chittogarh. Which of these two forts are worth to visit? I'll be touring Rajasthan and not sure whether to choose between Pushkar or Bharatpur? However, i'm not an avid birdwatcher but I get good feedback on the park. Thanks Cecilia
I haven't been to Chittogarh, but I did visit Ranakpur and Kumbhalgarh Fort and had a very good time at both (see travelogues on my Udaipur page). I was particularly taken with Ranakpur--really stunning. Kumbhalgarh was not as impressive visually but it was a lot of fun wandering around the whole fort (it's immense) and poking around in the dozens of ruined temples. You can easily spend half a day here, esp. if it's not too hot. Watch out for that--the sun can be pretty brutal. I was planning to go to Bharatpur a few years ago but was talked out of it by my wildlife-obsessed Indian friend, because the ongoing drought in Rajasthan meant that the bird population had decreased dramatically at the park. You may want to check on that--I think that drought may be still with us.

Now thats a hard choice! Kumbalgarh was more disappointing to me - well, it was not bad, but I had higher hopes for it. But the marblecarvings and the whole architecture of Ranakpur was certainly one highlight of my India trip. On the other hand, Chittaurgarh was awesome, too...... I think you have to do both! For your second choice, we skipped the birds, too :-)

You certainly need a day for it (Chitto), because it is a huge area - why not integrate it into your route, going on to Bundi, for example. This way you dont have to do the same way again.
