I am going to live in Kerala, probably in Kovaam for six months starting in late August. I was wondering if Americans can get small jobs there? I am a writer and retired business executive - advertising, politics, communications. I would like to write for local or regional newspaper about politics, but would do anything within reason. Also, wondering who might be reading this that lives in Kerala or Kovaam or Tri? Best to you all
You might contact VT-member TEDTONYTOM, he lives in Kerala. Greetz,

I'm not sure about finding a job as a foreigner in India. If you are to "legally" employed, you have to arrive with business visa. You posted in Kovalam forum about meeting other writers. If you want to meet local writers, you have better chance in Trivandrum. Kovalam, you will only find foreigners. cheers

Hi I live in Trivandrum and would be glad to help out. About getting a job I wouldn't know about but I could put you on into a friend who is the manager of ' the Indian Express'. Perhaps you could contribute a few articles to them. Will talk to him today itself. Meanwhile a few details about yourself will come in handy Drop a line at lady2byrd@yahoo.com Cheers Bibiana

Yumiyun is right - you will only really find tourists in Kovalam. It is very sleepy and relaxing, probably just right for writing a book, but I wouldn't expect to meet anyone similar there. If you are still going you might want to check out the Jasmine Palace. It is a lovely basic hotel away from the beach front and the staff are really friendly
