Can we make that trip as a hole? What is the road condition and where can we stop to take some videos on the road?

Hi all,
Pangong Tso is one of most beautiful lake in Ladakh. It's located 6 hours away from the city of Leh. As it commonly known, traveling to Pangong Lake required permit and the permit will being issues only to group of two or more people. Since I am traveling solo now, I'm really dependant to other travelers (I know it's not yet atouristic season now in Ladakh) in order to get the permit and thus fullfill my long-time dream of seeing Pangong Tso. If any of you planning to go to Pangong on 17/4 or 18/4, please let me know. I will check this space from time to time, or you also welcomes to PM me.
Cheers
Abdul Qadir
We would be in Katra in the second week of March. I have the following questions-- 1.How is the weather in 2nd week of March in Katra and on the way to Vaishno devi Temple? 2.What is the approximate Taxi fare from Jammu to Katra? 3.We hope to go onward on foot and horse back, which strip should we do by horse -- before Ardh kuari temple or after? 4.For coming back from temple to Katra by helicopter should we book before hand or can it be done there itself? If we need to book beforehand how to do it? 5.What is the ideal time to start from Katra to go to the temple to avoid the rush and also to have good aarti darshan? Any other points to remember while going to the temple please let me know. Thank you for your time, Seetha
Are horses available to go to Al Pather Lake...? Is it feasible with two children (9 and 4 years)...? Any idea on the rates for the horses? How long does this take?
Is Indian Kashmir safe for your regular tourist? Srinagar, Gulmarg, etc?
I planned my dream trip to Ladakh for this coming August but my companions have refused to accompany me,I have a ready itinerary,a ready plan in place and I know almost everything one needs to know before going to Ladakh. I don't bite,I don't snore...If there is anyone who would like to accompany me to this trip,I would be slightly more than happy to hear from them.
Hello. I live in Kolkata with my father and mother. They are 56 and 46 year old respectively. I am 16. Leh has always engrossed me and I desire to visit Leh and Ladakh after my examinations in June. I am a photography and astronomy enthusiast and Leh is just the perfect place to do both! I've heard that one can get to see the Milky Way (Oh My God!) during the power-cuts (which are frequent, as I've heard) from the roof of a hotel. Then there are the numerous other beautiful places like the Pangong Lake, Nubra valley etc. However, there is this thing which is troubling me-Acute Mountain Sickness. My parents aren't young anymore and my mother as well as I has breathing difficulties. Will it be alright if we visit Leh? Because, truly, since 3 Idiots, there is no other thing in mind except the blue of Pangong Tso. And the thought that I'll get to see the milky way, adds to it. Please help me, sirs and madams. You can make my dream come true. Thank You, Anusha.

I read somewhere that the passes out of Leh are all closed in October. Is this true? Do they get snowed in so early in the cold season? Until what date is it possible to go to Leh by car/bus and make it out safely? Thank you.

Hi, My friend and I are intending to go Kashmir in December, hopefully to catch some snow. This will be our first time to India and we are a little lost as to how we should go about planning so will be grateful for some guidance here. 1. Is December an ok time to go Kashmir and for snow? 2. I was told that Kashmir is a high security area and it will be better if I book a tour to the places I would like to go. Is that the case? And if so, should I book a tour before I leave on my trip and can I leave it to only after I arrive? 3. We are contemplating an 8 days trip which isn't very much time. Should we spend all our time in Kashmir? Or should I visit the surrounding areas too? 4. What will be the best way to fly into Kashmir? From Delhi? Thanks a lot in advance for the advice.

Hello! I am planning to visit Leh-Ladakh and surrounding places (maybe including Srinangar-Sonmarg too) during early September this year(2012) and looking forward to a trip which is flexible and not too rushed(as I have some 2 weeks in hand). I would like to know the following: 1. Is it safe travelling alone? 2. Starting by road from Manali, how much could the whole trip cost me with clean accomodations and decent food? 3. If I take a personal guide, how much he would charge? Any good guy you know of? 4. Is there anyone who is travelling around the same time so we can team up? 5. How would the temperatures be around this time? Thanks in advance, Datta 4. Is vegetarian food readily available?
