Hi, We are planning a trip to HP in the first week of May. We are arriving in Pathankot by train, and plan to retain a taxi for a week and return from the same. Our tentative itinerary is 2 nights in Mcleodganj; to Khajjiar through Chamba Jot and a night in Khajjiar; a day exloring the architecture at Chamba town, the temples, stay the night in Chamba; move to Dalhousie through the route around the Chamera Dam, and a night and the following day in Dalhousie.; back to Pathankot. We were told by a tourism officer that he recommends against the night in Chamba since it gets quite warm there. Would you corroborate, or do you think its worth the warmth [[we|are architects ]]? Please send suggestions towards this itinerary. Also recommendations towards reliable contacts for the taxi would be appreciated. Regards.
Hey Everyone, after some more advise please regarding the 2nd leg of our journey…
We’ll be finishing in Jaisalmer in Rajasthan and looking to head to Himachal Pradesh. The most northern stop in Himachal Pradesh for us will be Manali.
Basically we’d like to know the best route to get us from Jaisalmer to Himachal Pradesh. We’re easy on which way to travel once we’re in Himachal Pradesh.
Places we’d like to stop in HP are Shimla, Parvati Valley, Kullu Valley, McLeod Ganj. Again advice on best routes, tips/places to see would be useful.
After this we’ll be making our way east through Uttarakhand then into Uttar Pradesh. Any information for us to look up in our research would be great!
Many thanks again, Steph & Ant

Hi, everybody, I will visit Kulu, Manali and Dharamsara soon in the mid of April. Could you tell about how is the temparature then ? I checked some internet sight to find out, but each of them say diffurent things. One said daytime temparature up to 32c, and another said 17c. Is it possible the daytime temparature in Manali is same as Delhi ? I don't think so. Please give me the exact information. And how about weather ? Sunny or Rain ? I would appreciate your help very much.
Hi, This is my first post on this forum so heres a brief about myself. I am a 29 yr old guy from Mumbai; currently between jobs and looking for a backpacking trip to Himachal Pradesh or Uttaranchal. I have time on hand so am flexible with the dates but would like to begin as early as possible to avoid the xmas and new year tourist peaks. Anyone interested in backpacking and 1 day treks or even campings, please contact me here or on my email id four321zero@gmail.com Bye
I was wondering what time of year is best to visit Mcleod Ganj, for good weather, or oyher reasons.

Hi all I'm on the lookout for a tour package which combines some trekking/natural/wildlife aspects (I'm an ultra-beginner, who has done, for all intents and purposes, no trekking whatsoever)as well as the monasteries in the region. I am looking for something in early December. Alternatively, any suggestions on how to structure an itinerary independently? I will be travelling alone, and am looking at about 2 weeks in the area. Ideally, I'd like to be able to do a travel trip, rather than a tourist trip (so, if there are homestay suggestions, for instance, I'd be happy to hear of those too!). So, if it is tour suggestions, one which allows you time to go off and explore for yourself would be great. Thanks in advance!
we are travelling to manali and going on trekking ie the hamta pass beginning of september this year would like to know the temperatures day and night and suggestion of clothing to take
Does anyone have any ideas for day trips (not a lot of walking )from Manali in Mid-September? What is there to do there?
Hey guys! I am visiting manali in the first week of September. What are the weather conditions like during that time? Is it usually pouring? Also, what's the average temperature? So I know what to pack for! Thanks : )
I am travelling to the district of Lahaul & Spiti in Himachal Pradesh in August (starting arnd Aug 5th). I intend to travel at a slow pace, visit schools in the villages in Lahaul district for a few hours during the day, to interact with kids, conduct small workshops/ awareness sessions, rest of the time just take in the surroundings, interact with locals at a liesurely pace. Its going to be budget travel in buses, staying at homestays etc. I intend to travel from Delhi/Chandigarh to Manali by bus, then an other bus to cross Rohtang and start with villages, Gramphoo, Sissu, Tandi, then head to Keylong and proceeds onwards to Udaipur, Trilokinath covering the villages on the way. Any company is welcome. Anybody interested in travelling to Lahaul for any number of days, or heading to Ladakh and have a couple of days to spare, around this time contact me, whether or not you have the inclination towards teaching/kids/schools. All advice regarding safety, schools, locals, routes in this area is welcome too. Thanks.
Hi everyone! We (2 ppl) are heading for Manali in mid June and would love to go for a short trek there (we were thinking about the 5-day Hamta Pass trek). We found myriad treking agencies online, but their offers are kinda rip-offs, asking for at least 2500 Rps per person per day. Is it really necessary to book these things in advance, or do you think it is doable to arrive in Manali and find some cheaper organized all-inclusive trek starting on the next day? By all-inclusive I mean that we are not planning on taking our tents, sleeping bags or anything with us to Manali. Thank you! Pavel
