Is it easy to get a taxi at that time of night. We want to rent a car but everything will probably be closed at that time of night.
I have close to a month over Christmas. What's the best way for me to plan seeing as much of the US Virgin Islands as possible? How long on each island? etc. etc. Would love and and all ideas.
Thanks in advance.
What's the best place for snorkeling on St. Thomas. From Shore and via boat.
We're staying near Coki Beach which I understand has good snorkeling, but I'd like to spend a day at the islands best.
This will be our first trip to the Caribbean and first family cruise. We will be in Nassau, St. Thomas, and St. Maarten for one day each. Any tips on making this trip memorable without breaking the bank? I have 2 young children and am a little concerned about the news reports of increased crime in the area. Any tips would be appreciated for making this a safe and enjoyable family vacation. Thanks :)
We are in St. Thomas for one night before a cruise. We would like to find a good hotel close to the airport and the cruise port. Also, walking distance to restaurants for dinner and breakfast. It does not have to be anything fancy, just clean and reliable would be great. Thank you!
Is it better to rent a car for the week or rely on public transportation to and from airport and sightseeing?
We're two single guys (late 20's and early 30's) headed to the islands for a little sun, beach, snorkeling and beach bars--just an overall relaxing time.
We're professional adults with great careers, but we like to let loose every now and then and travel the world.
What can we do on St. John's and St. Thomas that would be fun, preferrably with mixed company? Most the people we've talked to are couples, and we want to stay away from that. We just want to hang out with a mixed group and have a great time and meet new people--no hidden agendas attached.
I will be staying in St Thomas next week and would like to know what is the better party and snorkeling boats that wont empty your wallet
Planning a first time trip and we have a 5 and 2 year old...we are looking for places that locals typical eat in ..street food, casual, etc. I always think that is fhe fun part of travelling finding those hidden secrets! food is usually great and relatively cheap and authentic...appreciate any tips we will be staying in Magen's Bay area. Thanks!
I will be reaching St Thomas from St John on 17-Dec-10. Would be staying till 21-Dec-10, along with my wife and 3 yr old daughter. Any advice on cheap but safe accommodation is greatly appreciated. We intend to have a good time around the beaches and perhaps explore the island by car. That's all. We are not very adventurous kind. So no special needs. Thanks in advance.
i'm looking at coming down for the first time and renting a condo, or house from VRBO. my question- what side of the island for the nicest beaches / snorkeling. more interested in the water than eating & drinking- dve in ohio
Do we need a list of what we want to see? Do we or can we book in advance? There will be 6 of us that want to travel together , will be leaving here on Wednesday 22nd. Can you send us more info before we leave, Thank you in advance.
My wife and I will be on the island next week and where going to rent a scooter to see the island and tool around. Can anyone tell me if that is a good or bad Idea? Is there a a lot of traffic or is it unsafe to travel around? Lastly, can someone recommend a few beaches to hit and a place for lunch.
Hello, all. My turn to visit St Thomas next week. Anybody else who's going to be in town who wants to jump with us??? I've read all the reviews, tips, etc and we're all excited about our trip.
Interested in a day of snorkeling & sailing from East End of St Thomas towards BVI, specifically Virgin Gorda. There will be 2 adults and 3 kids (13, 11 & 9) in the party. Does anybody know of any day trips that will do for us?
I've heard that this place -Heidi's Honeymoon Grill on Water Island- serves dinner on the beach on Saturday nights - but I have not found any additional details about it. My husband & I will be staying in St Thomas for 9 nights and I thought this might be a nice thing to do... does anyone know if we'd be able to take the ferry over to Water Island in the evening on a Saturday? What are the ferry time schedules for a Saturday night? And does anyone know prices/times for the dinner on the beach? Thanks!
Does anyone know the cost to rent chairs? Are there taxis available to take you back to the cruise ship?
Is there any car rental company that will rent a van that holds 8 people? Budget, and Dependable only rent a van that will hold 7. We are going in Dec. and there are 8 of us. Thanks for any suggestions.
Hey I am getting married Oct 3rd and my honeymoon is in St. Thomas. We are staying at the Ritz Carlton and we like to walk a lot, sometimes at night. Are there any places near by that we should be weary of or is it mostly a safe area around there? Thanks
i love st. thomas. i am trying to locate a jewelry store called the gold mine. if anyone can help me with a e-mail adress or phone number, i would really appreciate it.
Can you recommend a good seafood restaurant in Charlotte Amalie that serves lobster, etc for lunches only? I will only be on the island for the day.
I have a flight landing at 4:16pm on December (There are 11 of us). I need to get to Tortola that night. Is it possible for all of us to make a ferry that leaves Red Hook at 5:30pm?
We will be on St. Thomas for one night in November on our way from New York City to the British Virgin Islands. As our plane from NYC will arrive in the afternoon and as we don't want to risk missing the last ferry to the BVI we want to spend a night in a hotel in St. Thomas.
I have checked hotels and B&Bs but I am not sure which location to pick. Is Charlotte Amalie nice? Or would it be wiser to stay in a place near Red Hook ferry landing, e.g. Secret Harbour Beach Resort. We will rely on public transportation and taxis.
Can anybody help me decide please?
Thanks a million!
Hi, I am going to be staying at the Wyndam Resort (October) and have heard that there is a small bar just up the road. I was wondering if this hotel is away from the good party spots. I am in my late 30's and still like to party and see the bikini's. Im looking for a very casual good nightlife.
Obviously, it's easy to find temperatures, but please tell me if you can, how cool does it get in the evening? Do you put on something with long sleeves? Getting excited, eleven days 'til we go! Mimi
does anybody here have advise on a good and reasonable priced hotel somewhere near the Airport or the Port at Charlotte Amalie? We will just stay there for one night in order to continue our trip to the BVI the next morning. The trip will be in early November.
I have looked at VT's hotel tips for St. Thomas before. Unfortunately there aren't many recommendations. As I expect that there are more people here who are too lazy to build pages (like me ;) I assume more people have visited the USVI?
Another question is what we could do around the area considering we land at STT in the afternoon and leave the next morning. We won't have a rental car so we have to rely on public transport and/or taxis. Is there anything we shouldn't miss?
Thanks a lot in advance for your replies.
We are visiting friends in a few weeks from Canada.
What big box stores ship to St.Thomas ?
I know walmart does and I think Target. I know Sears does not !!!
Any other stores that ship there ???
I have been checking timetables all day and I can't seem to find an answer to my question. Maybe somebody here can help?
My question: In my planned itinerary we would be arriving on a flight from Newark to St. Thomas (STT) at 14:45. The last ferry to the BVI leaves from Charlotte Amalie at 16:30. There's a later ferry from Red Hook leaving at 17:30. Does any of you know whether it will be possible for us to catch one of these ferries? We won't have a rental car on the USVI, so we have to rely on taxi/busses.
Thanks a million in advance for your help!
Would like to know how much do these pvt villas cost on a daily basis? Is it too much for just a couple? How safe is it?
Would like some feedback on how best to spend time in St Thomas,St Johns & St Croix. We are planning a trip in Feb for our first anniversary. Is it peak or off-peak season? Heard Marriot n Wyndham are good. How far are they from the beach?
