I have a few random questions. I am heading to St. Croix in Early February. 1. Is there any decent surfing that time of year? 2. I was planning on renting a car, but I thought it might be more fun to rent a scooter or something along those lines. Any suggestions on the car rental situation? 3. I am staying with a friend of mine...but I would much prefer to build some sort of a hut on the beach and build fires at night. Is this something people typically do?
Not really a known surfing island, but there is some fairly decent spots like Judith's Fancy Beach or Judith's Cove as it is known locally. Most of the surfing is on the main Virgin island of St. Thomas. Surfing season ends in March so you should get a few waves in. If you want to get personal transportation you need to rent car. No scooters on St Croix, - unless changed very recently. ....and eh, no. You do not build a hut on the beach, but there are places for beach fires.....d:o) Here is some more general information.
