I am planning to visit kashmir in late march 2013.I want know about the hotel rates, houseboat rates and the car rates.is is advicable to take a car for the whole tour.Then what will be the charges.All rates should be budjeted rates.

we are planning a tour to Srinagar,pahalgam,Gulmarg in Sept end.we are group of 4 families with children aged 10-13 yrs. 1) What would be the weather overall.As its Sept end would it be hot and can we find snow at Gulmarg ? 2) Also which houseboats on Dal Lake would be best for our group?In order of Priority would be Cleanliness,Location and Good Veg/Jain food(in houseboat).

Is July a good season to visit Srinagar? Is Srinagar and nearby area safe for tourist? We have a package deal of INR 1.1 Lac for 12 days tour covering Delhi-Vrindavan-Agra-Srinagar with 4 star hotel, breakfast, dinner, and car for 4 Pax. Is this a good deal for the month of July?

we(myself and my wife) have planned a stay at srinagar during may26 to may29 and I dont have any idea where to stay and how to hire a guide. whether hiring a guide is a good idea or not??? We will be visiting kashmir during end of May. places we will be visiting are srinagar, gulmarg, pahalgam, sonamarg. Have seen multiple trekking options available, but of them are spanning for 2 to 3 days. I am looking for a simple 1 day trek (I am an amateur, hence cant do complex steep treks) which offers good views and experience. Please suggest.

My wife and I will be visiting Srinagar and Gulmarg at the end of Dec 2007. I heard that the Srinagar airport has very tight security and hope VT members can advise me on what to expect when we are there. Also, am I allowed to hand-carry my digital camera onto the plane from Delhi to Srinagar, and on the way back from Srinagar to Delhi? This is because I think the Himalaya mountain scenery should be very beautiful during the flight and I intend to take some photos while on the plane. Regards Victor

Hello, My father is planning for a trip to Amarnath. We are from Chennai. I will make arrangements for him to reach through flight from Chennai to Delhi and from Delhi to Srinagar. If you could assist me in the trip details from Srinagar to Amarnath - it would be helpful .
