Is it safe & ideal time to visit srinagar in october 2006

Hi I always wanted to visit srinagar.Is it safe and ideal time regd climatewise to visit srinagar around end of october 2006. Has anyone visited the same recently ,would like to hear abt the experiences.could anyone point out any tour packages for the same. also any tips also is helpful. thanks ap

    I went to Srinagar in June and it was ok. Though you cannot predict the situations in Srinagar, the place has been calm for a couple of months. October can be cold so carry some heavy woollens along with you. I will not recommend any tour operators or packages. Just head to Srinagar yourself and choose one of the lovely house-boats to stay in.... they are safe and owners take good care of you....
