I have a flight with Srilankan departuring from Colombo to Bangkok the 2 August. I would arrive to Colombo from Dubai (flight with Flydubai, with DIFERENT flight ticket). My question is, what should I do in order to check in to my Srilankan flight in Colombo? I only have hand luggage. Should I get out from arrivals and get in again or I could check in directly in the boarding gate of my Srilankan flight without getting out from arrivals? Should I need a visa? Many thanks for your reply, A
1. When you don't have to check hold baggage, it should be possible to go to a transit desk on the "airside" of the airport to get your boarding pass for the second flight, without going through passport control, baggage reclaim or customs. However, I don't know this particular airport, in your situation I would ask the airline concerned if you need to know in advance. 2. I don't know your nationality and can't be bothered to check whether there is any indication in your profile, but you should in any case check with the Sri Lankan Embassy in your country of residence what rules apply to your nationality (although you can get a general idea by googling Sri Lanka visa requirements). Most nationalities don't need transit visas, when staying airside; but if the airline says you would have to check in again from landside, you would actually be entering Sri Lanka, in which case "tourist visa" rules apply.
