Hey Zain, The city as safe as safe can get. So don't worry about anything. Three days is a good enough time to spend in Colombo but you could use one of those days to get out of Colombo and visit a few places. Maybe we can meet when you are here. Why dont you send me an e-mail on nilankap@sltnet.lk Cheers. Nilanka

As a tourist orientating yourself in the first few days is difficult. I know I was a tourist there. Three days is not much. Sri Lanka needs time. I would recommend a day at the beach. Wonderful! Especially the long beach that stretches down to Mt. Lavinia. Also go to Pinnawela Elephant orphanage. There are not many places in the world with that many elephants all in one place. You can get there easily by train. and return the same day, it only takes two hours. Kandy is reachable by day, by bus. But if you go for one day, you are not doing Kandy justice. You could check out the beach at Negombo (although its a bit grubby). You may be able to get down to Galle. But you'd need two days. I'd stay local and soak it in. Check out Pettar.
