We are planning a trip to Sri Lanka 20:th of Dec 2013 to 10:th of January 2014. Do you recommend to book in advance, or will there be a good chance to find decent accomodation for a familly of 4 (2 adults 2 children aged 9 and 7)?
We plan to go to Unawatuna, Mirissa, Yala (Or Uda Walawe), Ella and Tangalle (or a beach near Tangalle).

We are visiting Kalutara in April and we would like to make a one day trip from Kalutara; I love taking pictures (especially from the local people and their habits and work)

1) I would like to visit (Beruwala, fish market, mosque and lighthouse.) Which would be the best?

2) We would like to go to Galle and visit the town.

3) we would like to do a trip up the Madhu Ganga .

What do you think? Is this possible ? What price should I expect to pay for this trip with a driver? For 2 people.

Hi, I have arranged and booked a tour with a private driver for June 2013 but unfortunately my friend has had to drop out so I have a spare place or 2 if anyone is interested.. The tour is as follows: 1st June - Collection from airport to Kandy. Can pick up in Negomba and Colombo too. 2nd June - elephant orphanage, view point, kandy city and the tooth relic. 3rd June - Travel to Sigiriya 4th June - Safari at Minneriya National Park 5th June - Travel to Uppuveli/Nilavlei/Trincomalee The cost of the car/driver etc is285 USD which can be shared between up to 3 of us. This doesn't include accommodation and entrance fees. I am planning to stay on East Coast for 10 nights doing some scuba diving and chilling on beach and then heading back to Colombo. I am waiting for cost to travel back to Colombo. If anyone is interested just let me know :)

hi I wondered if accommodation prices in sri lanka tend to be much lower if you just wander round the hotels as opposed to booking online? I'm planning on going to weligama next week...is there likely to be a shortage of good cheap rooms or will i be ok to leave finding a hotel it until i arrive? many thanks :0)

My husband and I plan to visit Kandy, Polonnaruwa and probably Galle of Sri Lanka in the coming February or April. He is very "attractive" to mosquitos and always gets bites in places with mosquitos. Can any VT members advise us whether there will be many mosquitos in the abovementioned places during February and April? If so, we may have to take malaria pills beforehand and wear long sleeves all the time. Thanks for any advice in advance.

Planning to visit Sri lanka in June for 8 days. Looking for some advice for places to visit, also if anyone can recommend for any local tour operator in Sri Lanka. I am looking forward for some Beach Time, Water Sports, Wildlife Safari, Nightlife Entertainment.

Advice welcome on a projected itinerary for 13 days in Sri Lanka: Myself and my daughter hope to arrive in Colombo 4th August & transfer to Kandy, Spica Holiday Home has gotten good reviews from your contributors. 4 days in Kandy then move on to Batticloa or Trincomalee to dive for 5 days. We would then move south towards the Yala National Park for maybe 2 days then to Galle from which we would be able to access Colombo for flights home. Is this mad? Not having travelled in Sri Lanka before if this is too optimistic any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, J

Hi all, need your advice here I plan to visit cultural triangle in Sri Lanka this October. My first Destination will be Sigiriya. I was wondering how can i get to Sigiriya direct from Bandaranaike Airport? My flight is scheduled to arrive at about 8 am. Is there any bus depart from Airport to Sigiriya? or should i hire a taxi? but how much it cost? or any other suggestion? Your info, please Thank you all
