Hi! Does anyone know what the weather is like in Negombo in june? We are planning a trip to Sri Lanka the first two weeks in june and are thinking about staying in Negombo. Any information is appriciated!
June is in the 1st inter monsoon season with quite unsettled weather.
You may experience 3 types of days: - Fully clouded with the odd shower, light or heavy - 3-4 hours sunshine after 8 am and clouds building up in the afternoon with hefty thundershowers late afternoon, evening and night - sun-clouds-rain-sun again and so on with the sunny spells lasting at least an hour and minimum 4 hours per day.

Of course nobody can predict what the weather will be at the time of your visit but according to the chart it will be between 26 and 31 degrees with some rainfall.

In June it would rain a lot, as others told some of the day it would be very sunny and in late afternoon the sky will become gloomy with heavy clouds. It is totally an unpredictable climate over there during the monsoon.

Monsoon is mainly the wind and not rain. As the other posters have mentioned, the weather maybe quite unpredictable as we experience very strange weather in Sri Lanka presently too.

Plenty of places in Colombo to shop where I would advise your friend to visit House of Fashion as they have some good stuff at affordable rates most of the times. Also, the factory outlet at Thimbirigasyaya which is now famous among the locals as well as tourists. Further, there are other shops in and around Colombo such as Glitz, French Corner, Cotton Collection, Spring & Summer, Cool Planet etc to shop around to find good stuff. If he is interested in branded stuff, then ODEL would be the best and they are costly too.

Realise this is a bit late but I personally didnt like House of Fashion. My favourite was Odell, had never heard of them before going to Sri Lanka but thought they had the best range of souveniers etc
