I and another single mom girlfriend are traveling to South Padre this weekend. We can only splurge on one meal for us and our boys (11, 11 and 8). I'm looking for a fun restaurant on the water (bayside), and if they'd let us make reservations for Friday night, even better. If no reservation, how would you suggest we get a good view of the fireworks on the bay? If you have any fun, affordable, activity suggestions, they are welcome too.
Pirate's Landing, which is actually in Pt. Isabel, before going over the Causeway, on your left, has large windows looking out on the bay. I wouldn't call it an especially 'fun' restaurant, but that's about the best I can think of overlooking the water.

Try Amberjacks or Louie's Backyard. Both are on the bay side of the island. Reservations aren't necessary for either place. Marc
