I really want to buy a hand knit sweater while in Iceland - one made by hand, not machine. Anyone have a contact for a crafter that makes sweaters for sale? ALso, I need to bring some yarn home for friends and family. WHere is the best place to buy wool yarn? We are staying in Reykjavik, so some place near there - or accesible by bus would be prefered. thanks -
Hey, welcome to my country! Try thsese out. There are a few places/facories that you can visit, and also had made sweaters can be had as well. First try the Rammagerdin store in Hafnarstraeti, just behind the square downtown with the small clocktower. Pretty sure they have some hand made sweaters, or if not, thjey can surely point you in the right direction. Also check the sweater factories. Your best option is the store own by the Handprjónasamband Íslands - Handknitting Association of Iceland It is situated "Skólavörðustíg 19", the street that goes up to the cathedral. You will find hundreds of them in many colours, many patterns and many shapes. You can check their website: handknit.is/en/user/cat/show...
