      Hiking in Rainy Season

      Arequipa Jan 21, 2015 at 12:35 PM

      Hello,

I will be going to Arequipa for 2 days at the end of January. I would love to do a day-trip hike to somewhere in the area, but I am worried about the rainy season weather. Can anyone tell me what I can expect and if it's going to be possible?

Also I wasn't planning on a visit to the Canyon (as it seems so far!)-- are there other hikes closeby that would be enjoyable instead? Or is the trip out there worth it?

      Thanks for the input!!

Couple more Questions before I book :)

South America Jan 19, 2015 at 6:05 AM

      My Previous Post:
2 Months (May-June) Peru Bolivia and ..... - South America Travel Forum

Thank you so much everyone especially “the Dutchman” for replying. The reason I didn’t Respond was I still had to make up my mind up (In particular to the route and the €1400plane tickets) So I put a lot more thought into it and will hold off my trip until August-September for financial reasons also. Would Budgeting at €1500 a month as a backpacker style trip be a reasonable budget?

My Plan Now is still to start in Lima and travel to Bolivia the change being Instead of Chile or Argentina to then cross into western Brazil and to fly out from Rio.Looks Daunting but If I planned it as 3 weeks in Peru and 3 Weeks in Bolivia then Surely I could make it to Rio in 2 weeks and get a very brief glimpse of Brazil on the way.

I know that Brazil is much more expensive. I would be nervous about crime and In Bolivia the Altitude sickness and Bus Journeys.Instinctivley It feels right. I like the idea of Going across the continent. My main Bulk of Money Tour wise I imagine would be in Bolivia where I want to see the salt flats and a couple of other tours. I have not read up to much about Brazil. What do you guys think In terms of is this doable by public transport from Lima to Rio in 2 months or is it too much.

I guess I am looking for that bit of reassurance before I book anything as I don’t know anyone who has been there so I have no one to bounce ideas off. I really like this Idea but am just holding off on the tickets until I know it is realistic if that makes sense also im a but Nervous lmao. Thank You Guys

Should we carry lots of CLP and settle hotels with cash? Even if we flew from Lima to Trujillo, we would still have to have transportation to get to Chicama which is 30 miles away. Any recommendations.

      Hello,
my boyfriend and me just came to Barranquilla where we will start to work - we are therefore looking for a long term flat (300.000 - max. 500.000 COP per month), best would be in the barrios 'Boston' or 'El Recreo' or somewhere around the direction Carrera 38 No 69 (thats where the company is).

It would also be perfect to rent something cheaper than a hotel for 2 weeks from now in which we could find a long term flat.

Thanks in advance for every recomendations!!

      2 Months (May-June) Peru Bolivia and .....

South America Jan 5, 2015 at 12:12 PM

      Hey Guys,

This Seems a Ridiculously broad post but I have to get started somewhere.I have been researching and feel completly overwhelmed trying to tackle all the info and would love to hear an experienced travelers point of view regarding in particular a travel route. I really want to do this trip but i have lots of anxieties as it is new for me. I wanted to book my flights in the next week or 2.

Just A few Questions I Hope someone might please be able to point me in the right direction on. I am Planning on Going to South America for 2 months in May 2015.I Will Be travelling on my own and a bit nervous as I have not done much travel before and its quite overwhelming organizing it. I would like to see a mix of things but mainly culture and the people.

I Would Like to Travel Using Public transport rather than flying and also on a budget. I would be flying into Peru and I would Like to see Bolivia and then one more country. It is so hard to choose. It’s a toss up between Argentina Or Chile. Making my way to Either Buenos Aires Or Santiago for the flight home.My Gut is telling me Argentina from Bolivia but again unsure if it is best as I don't know what would be the best destinations to stop off on the route from Bolivia (It's So Big) to Buenos aires.

From what I gather Chile Is Slightly more Expensive and not as many stand out sights north of Santiago asides the Desert (South Would Not have the time I imagine) As for Argentina Again Judging by the sheer size of the country anything south of Buenos Aires wouldn’t be feasible but Iquasu Falls Looks class. Which Of the 2 Would be be easier to travel too from Bolivia

Whats appealing to me most is to see the Salt Flats and Yungus Road and La Paz in Bolivia. Other than that Id settle for just authentic experiences with the people not one for ticking all the boxes and that. In Peru a Few of the main sights But Machu picchu wouldn’t be my cup of tea.

I’m not sure how to budget my time. If you were to Visit these three countries how would you or did you do it. Guys thanks so much for even reading this and any Response would be hugely appreciated.Sorry For the Long Post.

      Thanking you
