hi there i have a nine month baby that im taking away with me in 3 weeks time. could anyone hlep me with, whether i need to boil babys water to make the milk or can i use it straight from the bottle. if i can use the mineral water do i still need to boil it? thank you in advance (health visiter is no help)
If you are using bottled mineral water, of course you don't need to boil it - the whole point is that it is free from the sort of nasties you might find in tap water in some countries.

Bottled mineral water can contain high levels of sodium and other minerals that are unsuitable for infant consumption. You should check that the water you buy meets the following standards Maximum mineral concentrations for drinking water (UK Department of Health) Sodium 200 milligrams per litre (mg/l) Nitrate 100 mg/l (best below 50 mg/l) Nitrite 3 mg/l Sulphate 500 mg/l Evian and Spa are two international brands that meet these levels. The water must be still. There should be no need to boil it for an infant over 6 months. You should be sure to supplement the formula with plenty of plain water in hot weather. Artificially filtered water is not suitable.
