My friends, I am contemplating the idea of pucrchasing a home and living in Sosua. I have checked online and I have found some very nice homes. I know that it is a process, that I am more than willing to undertake. Are there any members who live in or around Sosua, who can tell me any additional things about the area, other than what I have found on the internet. Annual property taxes, becoming a permanent resident, etc. I welcome any and all replies. Thanks in advance, Fellow traveler, James

Well I live in SOsua, but I rent a house and I don't have my residence yet. So I can not help you with that. But if you have any other questions..., just ask. Be careful with bying property, make sure you will receive a title deed. If you like luxuary appartements take a look www.villatropicale.net. villatropicale@hotmail.com

Hi, I made the move about 5-6 years ago and never looked back. Real Estate has been doing great here and I am very thankful for that. Financing is difficult and expensive so be prepared to pay for what you are looking to buy. I live in a Condo in Sosua. I bought 2 side by side and rent out one. Closest condo to the main beach. There are no yearly taxes on homes under 5 million pesos and that goes up every year. You pay a tax when you buy and sell. 4.5 % total. I paid 800 US for my temp residency and another 800 US for my permanent residency 1 year later. I used a nice woman in Cabrera as my attorney for residency. Dolly Cabrera is her name and she was very efficient. Held my hand all through the process. 809-307-3337 is her cell number and dollycabrera@hotmail.com is her email. Email first and ask what she needs for you to bring with you first. I have since gotten my citizenship but it gives you nothing more than being able to vote and freak out the Dominicans when you show it to them:) There are many good real estate brokers in Sosua area. There are many bad ones also that you need to stay away from. I would be happy to make several recommendations to you. scottindr at yahoo is my email Any other questions you need help with I would be happy to answer. I have done about 30 deals here in the last 7 years or so.1
