Some good and some not so good wineries. I will not go back to "Buttonwood Winery" in the Ballard area. Their wines are too acidic and smell of turpentine. The tasting room is nice but you can keep the wines. One winery that I did find favor with is "Blackjack Ranch Winery" located between Ballard and Los Olivos on Alamo Pintado Road, which is after the town of Solvang, on 246, going toward the Chumash Casino. They have both excellent reds and whites, which is unusal for a winery. The Chardonnay and the Syrah were two I purchased for home consumption. There are other wineries going toward Los Olivos and in the center of the small town of Los Olivos is wine tasting for several wineries.

Thank you for the tip! Blackjack is really fun and one of our new favorites. I also found out the winemake from Sanford is now at Alma Rosa, I recommend them as well.

I really liked Rusack on Ballard Canyon Rd. It had actually been recommended to me by 2 different wine tasting rooms in Los Olivos.
