Hi, do you have the latest train schedules from Yogya to Solo and Solo to Yogya? Should we stop at Purwosari or Balapan Station if i would like to go to Slamet Riyadi? Any idea what is the train cost? Appreciate your advice.
I only know the schedule from Yogya to Solo (Prameks train), valid October 2010; but it probably has not changed much. Departure from Yogyakarta Maguwo (= Adisucipto Airport): 05:50, 06:50, 08:50, 09:50, 10:50, 11:50, 13:50, 14:50, 16:30, 17:50, 18:30, 19:20. Departure from Tugu station should be 15 minutes earlier. Travel time to Solo Balapan from Maguwo: 50 minutes. Except the trains that stop at Prambanan, i.e. the ones of 11:50 and of 18:30, they take 4 minutes more. There are also two Banyubiro trains (to Semarang via Solo), departure from Tugu station 8:50 and 16:40. Slamet Riyadi is a long street. Purwosari station is at its western end. You probably want to be more downtown, near the Mangkunegaran Palace, Novotel, Danar Hadi batik; then you better get off at Solo Balapan. Price should be something like Rp 15,000. Theo

As my experience...I took a Prambanan Express train (abbreviated as PRAMEX train) from Yogyakarta TUGU station to SOLO with the fare IDR 10,000 one way and get off at PURWOSARI train station and take a BECAK (trishaw or tricycle)) to Slamet Ryadi. Have a nice trip to Solo
