Hi. I'm only just beginning to look into this but how close can you get to Mount Snowdon, and any nearby hostel / hotel to use as a base, on public transport? ie what's the nearest train station, then do I need to get a bus....? The internet has proved quite unhelpful so far.... Any help at all will be much appreciated...
The nearest town to Snowdon is Llanberis, which has quite a number of hotels/ b&bs etc (although booking is a good idea in the season). The nearest train station is Bangor, and then local buses (which run quite frequently). You can get the train to the top of Snowdon from Llanberis, or walk up taking a number of routes. www.nationalrail.co.uk for train timetables and fares.
