Hello, Can anybody help me? I am going to Slovenia on 20/08 by car. I am taking my bike. I hope to be that day there. What places do you recommend to visit and to have a first stop? W was thinking about Maribor or Bled. If it is worth to stay in Pohorje region? After Slovenia I going to Coratia but just to pass it region as I heard it is very expensive there and I am going to spend the rest in Serbia & Montenegro. So, talking about Slovenia I am going to spend there 3-4 days. I know that must are: - Bled - Triglav peak - Bohnij Lake - Caves - Postojna What about Piran? Is is worth of staying? And another question - do anybody can recommend company which is specialized in rafting (mn. 4 hours) and where is the best to stay? Maybe Kranijska Góra or Bled? uff......many questions but I will be happy to see replies:))) Kasia
Get a hold of jmarkoo. He lives on the north side of the Julian Mountains and has very nice apartmentii in Dovje, especially nice since you are driving. Dovje is a nice little town that is very well situated for any Triglav trekking and is a short distance from Lake Bled. He can also recommend rafting companies for the Isonzo River - most companies go into the river upriver from Kobarid, which is about 1 hour from Dovje - 45 minutes from Kranska Gora - over the Vrsic Pass. To do Triglav in one day is a very long day. If you are heading down the coast of Croatia, I would give Piran a miss on your short time schedule. Maribor might be a optional stop given that you are coming from the north. You could use your bike to ride out into the wine country near Jeruzalem. Have a great trip!

The area for rafting is Triglav (Soca river). The town of Bovec is probably the best place (I'll let the locals decide). Last month, I did the Triglav area (Tolmin-Kobarid-Bovec-Vrsic-Kranjska Gore) in one full day with a car (no rafting or trekking, but stopping quite a bit along the way to see things). Also add the Skocjan cave to your itinerary.
