Hello, we are thinking of spending 10 - 14 days at the beginning of August in Agamy beach. Can someone pls recommend where to find private housing (apartment or small house) for rent for that time. And which area would be suitable for us, as we are travelling with our small dog and wish to wear bikini / swimming trunks only.
I hope someone can help! Thx a lot!

Need travel partner - free style

      Luxor May 12, 2013 at 6:42 PM

I just need someone to go to Luxor with, as my husband doesn't want me to go alone. We went in Jan. so he imagines the hassle I may get. So I need someone that wants to do their own thing like I want to, and just meet up for major stuff and to have someone as a source of help. I have Egyptian friends there and I know I will be fine, but it will reassure my husband if I get a travel partner. I'm interested in June. I'm not talking about sharing a hotel room.

      Hi,

I am planning to backpack in Egypt sometime this November with my fiance. Please give me any details that would help me. Expenses. Food. Warnings. Places to visit. how many days would be required to cover Cairo, Alexandria, Hurghada and Aswan. Do I need to take the help of a local travel agency. Last year we backpacked through central and Southern Sri Lanka for 11 days without the help of any travel agency. Is this possible in Cairo? Please give me some information on the above and any additional information would be really helpful.

Sharm El Sheikh Apr 22, 2013 at 4:37 PM

So, we are going to Sharm around the 1st of June. I'm Egyptian but I don't live there so I'm not too used to it although I've been to Sharm every summer. What's the BEST resort in sharm? in terms of clubs/bars, people and cleanliness.

I was considering sunrise or Hilton sharks bay or the ritz but I need a place where it's lively, clean and not too expensive. Any suggestions?

PS. If anyone is around at that time, it would be nice to chill, my brother and I can show you around.

    • Medical

      Hurghada May 6, 2013 at 2:34 AM

I have lived here for many years and have a villa and a flat here. I lve here about 7 months of the year. I am aged 70 and in reasonable health, but with some pre existing conditions (high blood pressure for which I am on medication and some other (small) things . I am British and do not have medical insurance because the cost would be prohibitive and the insurance company would never pay up anyway. I have had to seek medical help on a couple of occasions. Once when i cut my leg and the other time for a small infection (from sea water) in my ear
I went to El Gouna Hospital and initially they wanted to charge me 50 Euros for a consultation only. When I showed my villa contract to them , the cost was promptly reduced to 60LE
Can anyone advise me authoritatively about sat (God forbid), if i had a heart attack or suffered a broken leg and had to be carted off to hospital. Are the fees they charge discretionary? Would I have to sign something or produce my bank card for a swingeing payment to be made before I would be stabilised ?
Is there an insurance scheme in this country which is fairly honest, reliable and not cost prohibitive or can one pay into a hospital scheme where accidents and emergencies are covered?

    • Libyan desert Visa?

by Wodz Online Now Jan 11, 2010 at 1:07 PM

Obtaining a Visa for Libya is near impossible these days. I will be wandering the eastern desert and wish to wander the Libyan desert as well (and thats all.. no cities in Libya), do you think it is safe to do so without a Libyan Visa? The area is so far remote that I highly doubt it would be a problem but I would rather be safe. Even if I could apply for a Visa I would, of course, not have any valid proof of flights into Libya, hotels.. nothing of that sort since this is a different situation. Does anyone have experience with this? I have to think that the majority of travels to Siwa also go to the Libyan/Great Sea desert... right? Any help is much appreciated!

by l-pagani Online Now Oct 21, 2006 at 1:18 PM

We will be visiting Egypt next Spring by a standard camper (2x4 not 4x4). I cannot get proper information from the Egyptian travel agency which will accompany us regarding the status of the road Siwa to Bahariya,.i.e. whether it is or not feasible by camper (we will be a group of abt 10 rv). We understand 70 km are now paved, but waht about the remaining 300 km? We are accustomed to unpaved roads, but are unable to drive on sand. Is the road bottom hard or is it a sand track?? thank you for your help

      Short Desert trip

by Mr_Furious Online Now Dec 16, 2005 at 1:54 AM

Hi, In april I will visit Egypt and I would like to visit the desert and see it for myself. I am mainly interested in landscapes with sanddunes and oasises with palm trees, exploring them a little... Basically the stereotypical image one has of a desert. I will only have 3-4 days. Where do you recommend me to go? Siwa sounds good but far out. Are other places like Dakhla or Bahariyya also good for that typical desert trip or not. Who can help me? Thank you very much, Bert
