by Aafia Online Now Apr 2, 2013 at 6:03 PM

We'll be travelling to St Martin in the near future with family members including a 4 month old grand daughter. Her parents are hoping to not have to tote a week's supply of disposable diapers/nappies with them. Are these easily obtained in the supermarkets on the island?

      Marigot cafe drinking glass . . .

by Judygiselle Online Now Feb 4, 2013 at 5:25 PM

On my recent visit to Sint Maarten, I had a drink at one of the outdoor cafes. I admired the beautiful glass in which it was served: a clear glass with a pink design. I was told that it might be available at a Marigot market. We could not find it. Can anyone help with information about a source for purchasing these drinking glasses? One of them had a small pink strawberry in the design, another had some French script. Thank you.

    • hotels on the dutch side?

by wanderlusters Online Now Jan 23, 2013 at 6:34 PM

Me and my wife are looking for a hotel on the south/Dutch side of St. marten for March. My family owns a time share there (RCI/divi/little bay). Our weeks are in August so that is almost impossible. I saw a couple of deals on livingsocial and groupon(is it ok to mention that here?). The places in question are the Sonesta great bay beach and sonesta maho. One of those is RIGHT next to the airport. We were wondering if it is too loud. Also if anyone has any better suggestions, I am open for anything. Thanks in advance.

      Cycling around St. Maarten?

by DougC23 Online Now Dec 18, 2012 at 9:22 PM

I'm looking to visit St. Maarten next month and I'm on a budget. I would like to avoid renting a car and I hear the buses are not very good. Are the roads safe for bike riding? I figured I could just ride around the island but I'm not sure if the traffic is dangerous.

    • Which resort? Please help!!!!

by Jabberjenn Online Now Nov 12, 2010 at 12:13 PM

We are 4 adults using a timeshare, so we are limited to our choices of resort as well as the dates. Here is what I've narrowed it down to, based on our only options thru RCI: * The Towers at Mullet Bay * Pelican Resort Club * The Ocean Club Villas We are hoping for a good, centralized location, 5-10 minutes from some bars & restaurants, nice beach access, and someplace that will NOT be filled with a bunch of screaming kids. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated!!! Thanks!!!

My wife and I are making our first trip to the island. We have never been to a clothing optional beach and would like to find a quite peaceful beach that we can visit. My wife would prefer that the beach is not crowded. I heard there are a few beaches on Sint Maarten that are not easily accessible. Are these beaches safe to visit. Is there a need to worry about traveling the paths to these beaches? What is the best way to access these beaches?

      4 hour layover

by HELEN Online Now Sep 17, 2010 at 9:51 AM

I know that this is the closest airport to the beach in the world, so it would be a shame to spend a 4 hour layover inside the terminal instead of at the beach. Unfortunately, I will have a suitcase with me, so it may not be so easy to go to the beach. Does anyone know if the airport has lockers or some sort of storage area? Will I have time/be able to go to the beach during my 4 hour layover? Thanks in advance!

Hi, I am cruising with my husband, brother, sister-in-law and grown nieces at the end of May. I want to plan a great beach day for them as they have never been to the Caribbean. I am looking for a quiet, uncrowded beach (isn't evyerbody!) but one that has facilities, as we will need umbrellas and a bathroom. I was leaning toward Friars Bay. Is that a good choice? Any information you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

by babygirl9925 Online Now Jun 9, 2009 at 6:21 AM

You stated that the rooms looked dated. Are the rooms clean, do they all have balconies? I am in a Studio. Is there a better or safer part of the resort to stay? I understand that one area of guest quarters is fenced in and is safer than the guest quarters outside of the fenced area, and that there is a steep hill to walk if you can not get parking and/or guest quarters inside of the fenced area (may not be to safe at night). What light can you shine on that for me? Also, do you know the directions to Orient Beach, no locals seem to be able to direct me there before. I stayed at the Pelican one year, it was very nice. Also, I stayed at Cupecoy which was very nice, but did not have a nice beach. I am traveling next week, your info would be very helpful. The person that I received the info on about Famingo Beach Resort was not absoulutely sure, it was from a third party.

DO YOU NEED a long sleeve shirt for late night lounging at the open air restaurant? Is it hot all night long or do you get a colder winds after the sunset? Are the mosquitos present at the sunset/night? Thanks
