Yes it is very safe. Singapore is probably the safest metropolitan city in the world. The MRT (subway train) from Changi to downtown costs about SG$2 and it stops running around 11:30pm.

Hi There, If you are arriving at Terminal 1, you need to take the skytrain to Terminal 2 where the MRT station is located. The last train that leaves T2 is at 11:18pm. The first train starts at 5:31am (Mon to Sat) and at 5:59am (Sun/ Public Holiday) It takes only 27 mins to reach the centre of town and the fare for one way is below S$2.00 (Not inclusive of S$1 refundable deposit for single trip ticket). See Changi Airport website: changi.airport.com.sg/changi... Our MRT is very safe, even during late nights. Every part of the station has a surveillance or monitoring system, there are also "train marshall" patrolling the station and train from time to time. I believe other VTers will vouched for our safe environment. So not to worry too much and have a pleasant trip. Regards, Jo

  • THANK YOU. Chicken Rice, Satay

VT Great Friends., THANK YOU very much for the answers to my questions. in the US, the idea of traveling in mass transit in most cases generates a foreboding and scary thought. Thanks for the reassurance that Singapore is safe. Now, where to find the mobile, street-side food hawkers that used to sell chicken rice and satay Singaporean friends talk about with great delight. You can try either Lau Pa Sat (famous for satay) or Glutton Square (taste of local favourties) which is beside the Esplanade.
