I want to shop for men's resort wear. Things like tropical patterned short sleeve shirts (maybe made of silk?) and silk ? pants. Things that will breathe in a high humidity..... Suggestions from you fashionistas? I'd appreciate the names of a few shops that might carry this type of clothing and be relatively inexpensive, yet glamorous of course :-) Thanks in advance for your help..
John, I always wear short sleeve silk shirts in hot weather. I bought almost all of them in Singapore, Lucky Plaza on Orchard Road, ground floor and basement level. Many of the shops have them. They were around S$20 each, less if you buy a few at the same time and bargain. There's also a good silk shop at Clark Quay.

Hi! Another good place to get nice resort wear stuff in linens and cottons would be The Island Shop in Tangs Departmental Store along Orchard Road. It's on the 2nd floor. Nice patterns in a very resort, holiday mood! :) The Men's floor at Tangs also carries nice short-sleeved shirts -- very hip and sassy. But might be a bit pricey. There's also a row of shops at CHIJMES opposite Raffles City shopping centre. They do carry some nice resortwear clothes. :) Have fun shopping! :) smiles, francesca

Hi! I like the Island Shop at Tangs. Its opposite Orchard MRT Station. It has some silk but mostly acrylic and cotton. Or you can try shopping in Takashimaya or other malls along Orchard Road. Lots of shops carry what you want. Enjoy the shopping paradise ;)

Your best bet for anything silk to wear is ISRIDA TIES. You can find the main shop in Clark Quay near the taxi stand big enough you can't miss. Low-priced and affordable, these items are mostly made in Indonesia. Singapore's climate is often hot and humid, so thin to medium density cotton garments and loungewear would be ideal. Cotton shirts can be found all over the island, but I personally find Giordano and U2 good clothing stores for menswear and womens' casual outfits at reasonably cheap prices. Boardshorts from Op are fun to wear and very comfortable on the beach and in the city.
