    • Safety in Tabarka and Ain Draham

      Tabarka May 23, 2015 at 6:35 AM

Hei, is it SAFE to travel/stay to Tabarka and Ain Draham now? I should go on June 3 and stay most of my time in Tabarka but also to visit Ain Draham. I know they are small towns but Ain Draham seem s to be close to the area, which has warnings about kidnappings and terrorism, Jendouba. What is the REAL situation there, if not 100% what are the places/situations to avoid? All the help and advice appreciated!

    • Les Orangers Beach Resort & Bungalows

      Hammamet May 15, 2015 at 6:01 AM

My friend and I are both looking to go to Les Orangers for a week in July 2016 (yep! we're booking rather early!) but I just wanted to check a couple of things first.

We'll both be 23 years old when we go and I've read several things regarding dress code outside of the hotel. Some people say that you should cover up whilst others are saying it's very tourist-y and we'll be fine wearing normal holiday clothes. Can someone please advise? We won't want to stay in the hotel the entire week and I don't want to offend anybody if we don't dress appropriately.

I'm not a big drinker, so we're not planning on getting incredibly drunk, but are there bars and such to go to in the evening or would it just be safer to stay in the hotel?

Also regarding the beach, is this sectioned off for the bungalows at this resort or is it accessible for us as well?

Any advice would be appreciated - this will be my first girls holiday!

      Hotel recommendation

by bf9mw Online Now Jan 16, 2006 at 8:06 AM

I will be going to Sidi Bou Said in JUne (hot I know)and I can't seem to find any recommended hotels. I am not sure of the layout of the town Is the beach within walking distance from town? I am not sure whether to stay near the beach or in town. I would like a charming questhouse with air conditioning. I do not like four star hotels(too impersonal) but i do enjoy some comfort and local flavor. Anyone have any suggestions. I will be alone (though I am a 55 year old woman - I have had alot of experience in the Middle East but never Tunisia. Is it safe for a woman to be walking alone in the town during the day or elsewhere? What is the proper attire? Are sundresses appropiate or do arms need to be covered?

      Time in Sidi Bou Said

by herbie64 Online Now Aug 16, 2004 at 9:31 AM

Hello everybody I'm planning to spend some time in Sidi Bou Said - proberly next year ,if things work out. Has anyone been there recently that would like to comment on the good and bad side of things there. Perhaps a nice place to stay (inexpensive ,if possible) and a recommended cafe/restaurant. I would guess that it's not the livliest place on earth, but sometimes that can be a good thing! If anybody is interested, I know a really cheap hotel in Sousse and I have also spent some time in Tarbarka. Thanks in anticipation. Happy travels - always.
