Red Sea Diving

by marknz Online Now Feb 29, 2012 at 1:55 AM

We are planning a dive trip to the Red Sea in June. Just not sure where to go. I'm an experienced diver, my girlfriend needs to do her Open Water. Our options seem to be Naama Bay (Sharm) or Marsa Alam.

All advice welcome!

I quite liked Dahab. Dive courses are cheap, and there are some mixed level dive sites that both experts and beginners can enjoy.

Logistics... we will be around Aswan and could pop over to the coast for a week (assuming the road is open to foreigners). Or wait till we're back in Cairo then fly over to Sharm. I've heard the diving is better in Masa Alam but there are other things I'd quite like to do in the Sinai. Like pop into Jordan (Petra) for a night or visit/climb Mt Sinai or go see one of the old monasteries.

A mate has recommended Camel Dive in Naama Bay. And another mate has recommended we go to Brayka Bay near Marsa Alam. Neither have dived both areas..

I'm a PADI instructor but my girlfriend is yet to dive. So we want somewhere I can leave her with a good dive school while I and go off explore. We've decided to stay land based.

    Decisions, decisions, decisions....

    Hello,
    Hope you are fine.
Sharm El-Sheikh is the best place for diving, do no think about any place now
    Just Sharm El-Sheikh now
But it does not mean that diving in Marsa Alam is not recommended ....!!!
    Thank you
    Ahmed
