Hi, if you can find Egyptian pound to buy at home then it would better. USD & Euro (would be your second option)can be exchanged upon arrival at the airport exchange ( although you won't get the best exchange rate)

Don't change currency at the airport as it the worst rate going. Bring Egyptain pounds with you from your own home country and have some of any other currency i.e. Pounds, Euro or Dollars for any emergency.

We took some LE with us and got some from the ATM in our hotel - much better rate from the ATM. If you have a Nationwide Building Society a/c they don't charge for foreign cash using your card abroad. Our hotel and some other services wanted Euros or US dollars....but a few LE as we went along and a credit card suited us just fine. Have a good time, Tissie

I also say that you should not buy Egyptian pounds abroad as you will get a much better rate here in Egypt. All the banks change at more or less the same rate ( and that includes the airport ) - for an example of rates go to http://www.nsgb.com.eg and click on exchange rates... then compare with what you would get back home ! Euros, Dollars, Sterling, Swiss Francs it makes no difference.
