We will be in Shanghai for 2 weeks. We have booked 7 days tour to Suzhou/Wuxi/Nanjing/Hangzhou. Remaining 7 days will be spend in Shanghai. Can someone give us some ideas how to spend the remaining 7 days? Are there any more better outskirt places in Shanghai or tours that we can join? Very much appreciate your comments.
Lots of things to do in Shanghai, which include but is not limited to: The Bund (also for the Bund Tourist Tunnel, which links the old part of Shanghai to the modern Pudong area on the other side of the river; Huangpu River Cruises; and the gorgeous 33m bar at the Shanghai Club). Yu Yuan Garden (including the City God Temple and Shanghai Old Street). Tianzifang (including Taikang Road, for a modern, hip, boutique Shanghai). Shanghai Peoples Square (with the surrounding Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Grand Theatre, Shanghai Art Museum, Shanghai Urban Planning Exhibition Hall and the Shanghai Museum of Contemporary Art). Nanjing Road Pedestrian Walkway. Jing'an Temple, Jade Buddha Temple and Zhenru Temple. Changfeng Park, Zhongshan Park and Mengqing Park. Pudong (which would include the Riverside Promenade, Oriental Pearl TV Tower, Shanghai History Museum, Lujiazui Central Green Space, Jin Mao Tower, Shanghai World Financial Centre, Century Boulevard, Shanghai A.P. Xinyang Fashion & Gifts Market and Pudong Century Park). Outside of Shanghai you have the wonderful water towns, like Qibao Ancient Town, Zhouzhuang, Xitang, Wuzhen and the sublime Tongli. Hope this gives you some ideas.

Seven days in Shanghai.. You can spend around 2 to 3 days in the city... can check things to do in my tips.. many.. specially the The Bund and Xin Tian Di. If possible, discuss with your tour whether they can arrange a tour to Huangshan.. it is about 4 hours drive from Hangzhou or 6 hours drive from Shanghai. or... check out with Shanghai day tour to old canal towns, for example Wuzhen. You can check out my tips on Wuzhen. http://www.chinassbc.com/ -- this is a reliable day tour operator in Shanghai, but I am not sure whether they have English tour, or maybe you know Chinese??

I stayed here, had a 2 bedroom apt., there certainly are cheaper places, but this was a good home base and the service was great. Booked on Expedia. Walking distance to the Subway and a short taxi ride to Yuyuan. tripadvisor.com/Hotel_Review... Another thing to see is this acrobatic act. shanghaiacrobaticshow.com/sh... and also do a day trip to one of the water towns. You can buy bus ticket to there and they let you explore the town for about 4 hours.

Sorry, wanted to mention that I don't endorse any of the webpages/travel agencies cited. Just listing them for point of reference. I bought my tickets to Circus World the day prior by visiting the ticket office. The website I cited unfortunately is a travel agency...I thought it was that of the venue itself. As always, buyer beware.

Broadway Mansions has a lovely view over the Waibadu Bridge and the Bund. Relatively inexpensive, room and food adequate. Hyatt on the Bund more expensive, but lovely views over river and Pudong. Good spread as well. Excellent service. The Taiyuan Villa Shanghai Ruijin Hotel is something different - a bit of France in Shanghai. Part of the French Quarter and a living relic of the historic colonial impact. Gorgeous room and location. Breakfast in a lovely setting, but food only adequate.

well, Shanghai is rather large as far as its size is concerned. A number of fantastic attractions are available for your references, including Shanghai Museum, Shanghai Bund, Shanghai Grand View Garden and Chongming Island. A friend of mine introduced chinahighlights.com/shanghai... for reference, so you can look into more for details
