Hi, I'm looking forward to visiting Shanghai, and am planning to take the 26hour train to HK and eventually, back. However, having trouble booking seats on these trains online. If I go to the Shanghai railway station to buy tickets when there, without a reservation there is a risk that 2-ppl soft sleeper cars are sold out and have to take something like 6 ppl cabin.. I found one site that delivers the tickets to your hotel in China but they take HUGE fees for doing so. Also, while going through the old posts in this forum, there was a site www.chinatravelone.com that doesn't seem to work anymore.. So is there simply no other way than to go to the station when there?? Also I read somewhere that for SHA->HK train they stop selling tickets 2 DAYS BEFORE train departs?!? Any truth to this?? Thanks so much if you reply to this!
I think the site of CTS change name: chinatravel1.com/english/ind... I am not sure if CTS will deliver tickets overseas or not, but you may check with them. It should not difficult to get soft sleepers at train station if it's not high season.

Stop selling tickets 2 DAYS BEFORE train departs is TRUE for the Southbound train to Hong Kong only. The Northbound train from Hong Kong cuts off ticket selling 20 minutes before departure.
