Midnight arrival in Shanghai

by mikinoz Online Now Mar 5, 2013 at 8:12 PM

I'm booked for a visit to Shanghai arriving 21 May. I'm flying Air Asia from Gold Coast, via KL.
I'm a bit nervous arriving at 23:45 and have requested my booked hotel (the Linhao) to provide their free shuttle service to pick me up.
Does anyone have experience of this situation? Are the hotel shuttle buses reliable?
Not having been to shanghai before, I don't want any hassles.
Thanks in advance...

    Hi.
I haven't used there shuttle service but in general shuttle services are reliable.

    If not:
There is no more public transport at this time but there should be taxis waiting for you. You just need the address written in chinese. To the center it should cost about 200 RMB

    Hi Stephanie,
I have now cancelled the booking at the Linhao ( after reading so many negative reviews, I didn't feel like taking the chance with them). I've now got a new booking with the Shanghai Airlines Pearl Hotel which sounds much better.
They have a shuttle too but my late arrival time may not register on their radar!
Good to have the link to shanghaidriver.net as a backup...thanks.
    Mike

If you arrive Pudong terminal there is the fasr train (300km /hour) whicvh will get you into Shanghai. Find out where your hotel is located re the train's Shanghai terminal, then taxi to hotel.

Email your hotel for this info. I see you are now staying at the Pearl Hotel, is that near the Pearl Tower, one of the tallest buildings in the world. If so we stayed in a hotel close by.

Taxi in Shanghai are extremely cheap.
I have a Shanghai page which may help you with fast train, tourist activity etc.
    Good Luck

Most luxurious hotels have their own shuttle buses between airport and hotels in Shanghai (chinahighlights.com/shanghai...
), so you can do as you've planed.
If it doesn't work, you're advised to take a taxi to your hotel directly in safety.
